Sur la commune de Labenne, dans les Landes, entre les rues de Toulet, de la Cume, des Ramiers et de Laubour, le dernier hectare de forêt d'un ensemble de 10 hectares est visé par un projet de lotissement. À 200 m, la circulation sur l'autoroute A63 forme le bruit de fond dans ce petit bois de Toulet. Enregistré avec un MixPre 6-II et deux microphones Earsight le matin ensoleillé du 2 mai 2025, au point de latitude 43.585598 et de longitude -1.4246, une vingtaine d'espèces se manifestent, dont l'Écureuil roux, grattant l'écorce et émettant quelques cris, la Sittelle torchepot, le Pouillot de Bonelli, le Rougequeue noir, le Grimpereau des jardins, la Fauvette à tête noire, le Pinson des arbres, le Rougegorge familier, le Roitelet triple-bandeau... En ces temps de réchauffement climatique, l'importance de préserver les forêts s'intensifie. Bonne écoute, surtout avec un casque.

A wonderful soundscape featuring insects and birds from Västerbotten, Sweden. The island is alive with pollinators, various flies, bumblebees and hoverflies and I wanted to capture the sound of these insects going about their business as the day warms up. I left a Sennheiser array down, close to a bank of vegetation by the water, knowing there would be a wonderfu bacdrop of bird species, such as Arctic Tern, Oystercatcher, Greenshank, Common Gull and others....

Insects and Birds; Västerbotten, Sweden.

For me, the piping display song of Eurasian Oystercatcher is on of the most beautiful sounds given by any wader species. It is something I have wanted to do justice to for some years and this year, on a trip to Västerbotten in Sweden, I spent a few nights watching a local pair in the evenings. Having located an area where a pair like to display, I left a Sennheiser 8020 stereo array out for three nights in order to record the birds. My patience eventually paid off when the birds duly obliged last night, as the sun dipped towars the horizon. A wonderful sound and I was very happy to get a long recording of the full diplay by these wonderful birds...

Corncrake (Crex crex)

Dans un petit bois de Labenne, dans les Landes, menacé par un projet immobilier, un enregistreur passif (Audiomoth) capte une minute de son toutes les 10 minutes, le soir du 1er mai 2025 de 20h40 à 22h puis le matin du 2 mai 2025, de 5h00 à 9h30. La proximité d'une autoroute (A63) génère un bruit de fond important. Un témoignage d'un existant. Latitude 43.586425 et longitude -1.424530.

A small urban pond on the outskirts of Uppsala attract thousands of starlings at night where they stay in the reedbeds. This recording is from 4 to 4.40 AM. At first something disturbs the starlings at night and they all take to their wings, after 2 minutes and 40 seconds a beaver is whistling and at the end of the recordings all starlings start their day and leave the pond in 14 big waves.
