A female and two young lynx are resident close to Uppsala and I put out the droprig hoping for some purring. No such luck but a fox was very vocal in the morning. Background noise is melting snow in the spruce. Uppsala. January 27, 2024.

All the sounds that are heard in this track were present in just this way in the original raw recording: there are no additions, subtractions, or effects. Quieter sounds were increased by +22 dB, louder sounds were reduced by -29 dB. A slight hint of saturation was added at the end to give a touch of warmth to harsher metallic sounds. Internal bridge sounds were recorded in stereo with a pair of Geofons (first generation). External bridge sounds (the final coda in this excerpt) were recorded with MKH 8040s in ORTF. Wing sounds and calls from the local pair of Common Swifts flying by and entering their nest box. Also a few Swift bangers flying by and checking out the nest boxes. Other species in this recording is Lesser-spotted Woodpecker, Greenfinch, Blue tit and Great tit.

A newly arrived singing Willow warbler. Notable other bird species in this recording are also Blackbird, Wren, Wood pigeon, Tree pipit, Pied flycatcher and Common Crane.
