Great tit and tree sparrow are resident species in Sweden and you hear their calls and songs so often that you almost "filter them out". Today I focused my parabolic dish on them. Life would be so much poorer without them. Uppsala, Sweden. March 7, 2023.

When the Common Rosefinch arrives to Sweden in late May, almost all of the migrants have arrived. This afternoon a male rosefinch called its "pleased to meet you" at a lovely open forest near Wik Castle in Uppland. May 19, 2023.

One of the most joyous of early spring songs belong to the Siskin. They often visit bird feeders in mid-February on their migration north. Nåsten, February 18, 2024.

Nothing out of the ordinary but I am longing for the field season to kick off. Put out the Tascam FR-AV2 and Clippy EM272 in AB configuration close to our birdfeeder. A horse passes by on the gravel road and greenfinches, goldfinches, tree sparrows, blue tits and great tits fight for the seeds.

Goldfinches and greenfinches

Bramblings in their thousands move through Uppland in late April to their breeding grounds in northern Sweden. This very cold morning on April 28, 2024 around 100 bramblings temporarily stopped by a pond in the forest of Nåsten and sang their hearts out.
