We here at 101 Apparel have been following Kon and Amir’s record collecting skills since the legendary “On Track” mix cd’s that set a new bar in the crate digging community for what a mix cd could be. Now, 101 Apparel is honored to present “Music is the Message; a design collaboration inspired by the music and djing prowess of Kon and Amir. Each tshirt will come with an exclusive mix cd by Kon and Amir filled with modern soul, disco and other dance goodies .

Like legendary treasure-hunters, Kon and Amir have spent the past twenty-five years excavating record bins finding gems to pierce ears with. Long forgotten musicians are now getting their proper dues and appreciative audiences are being turned on to some amazing music. They have managed to salvage some of the greatest music you've never heard. Audiences who are tired of being force fed sub par music will thank them for providing an alternative.

Fans and music industry peers alike admire Kon and Amir not only for their vast collection of music but also for their party rockin' abilites. Their mastery as DJ's has earned them celebrity status across Eursope. During these tours, it's not uncommon for locals to bring their rare and treasured records to show to give to Kon and Amir as a "thank you" for bringing some of the best music they've ever heard to their attention. Other locals in the European crate diggin' scene often take Kon and Amir to some of the best record shops in their areas. To their peers, famous or unknown, Kon and Amir are looked up to as A List DJ's who keep parties poppin’ with everything from classics that people know and to joints from their special collection that people are happy to be introduced to.

Since first putting it down together in 1997, the duo has released a total of ten albums; six On Track installments to critical acclaim, The Cleaning, another album entitled The Kings of Diggin’, a collaboration with DJ Muro from Japan and most recently two installments of the Off Track series for the BBE with another three to come. Now, it’s time to dust off your dancing shoes and whet your appetite with the exclusive mix cd courtesy of Kon & Amir, Wax Poetics and 101 Apparel.

A freestyle 3 hour mix session recorded Sunday afternoon. One take, no messing. 100 tracks on the disco & soul tip, with sprinkles of fuzzy post-punk, funk, boogie & psych vibes, and a few curveballs thrown in. A ton of vintage classics & some lesser-known bits, alongside recent tracks on a similar tip.

This was basically the crate I pulled together for the Say She She gig at Village Underground in East London, which I played at last week (Aug 31st 2023), and was very much the inspiration for this mix, so there's several tracks by them here, as well as current artists like Cleo Sol, Thee Marloes, Kit Sebastian, Witch, Thee Sacred Souls, Jalen Ngonda & Mad Yella, mixed with a bunch of legends & dancefloor fillers.

A selection of cute but tenacious earworms. Felt good playing this stuff in a big sweaty warehouse, so I had the urge to record a longer session of it all.

This is an extended version of a mix broadcast on BBC 6 Music, 22nd Feb 2025, celebrating the first phase of Wu-Tang Clan solo & side projects, three decades later.

At the end of 1993 we entered the 36 Chambers. In the period following, before Wu-Tang Clan's second LP, the solo projects of the hip hop killa bees really took flight, initially with the RZA's side-project Gravediggaz, and Method Man's debut LP 'Tical' in 1994. Things really heated up in March 1995, with the 'Return to the 36 Chambers' from the late ODB, quickly followed by Raekwon's 'Only Built 4 Cuban Linx' in Summer and GZA's sophomore album 'Liquid Swords' in Winter, culminating with Ghostface Killah's 'Ironman' in 1996. 30 years on, BobaFatt mixes up a selection of 36 beats from these six Staten Island albums, Block Party style.

Nb: Parents, even though this one's extended it still includes clean versions throughout, because Wu-Tang is for the children, after all.

Native Tongues Block Party | BBC 6 Music

I was invited back to Hospitality On The Beach out in Croatia last week, where I did four sets, on the beach and in Wabi Sabi, once again providing some chilled alternative sounds alongside the line-up of D&B heavyweights.

I've been lucky to play festivals every year at The Garden in Tisno since 2012 (bar the pandemic years, 2020-2022), so this was my 10th time out there (!), and has become very much a home from home for me. 

Keeping with the annual tradition, this one revisits a selection of music I played over my week in Croatia.
70 tracks in the mix over two & a half hours, mixed in one-take; no messin'.

I hope this 180 minutes of hip hop, jazz, reggae, soul, r&b, boogie, bruk, garage, grime & jungle reflects the alternative side of the festival a bit; warming up the ravers in the baking Balkan sunshine.

Love once again to Chris Goss & the Hospital Records team for the invite, and for all their hard work putting this 7-day event together. A labour of love for real. Big up all the performers and the dancers (special shout to the House of Dinosaur crew, and my compadres Dom Servini & Kid Hops).

BobaFatt's Beach Beats | Hospitality on the Beach 2025

Last week was the 50th anniversary of Fleetwood Mac's self-titled 10th album; released July 11th 1975. It was the first to feature the US duo Lindsey Buckingham (guitars / vocals) & Stevie Nicks (vocals), who joined two of the original members, drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie, along with his then-partner, the late Christine McVie (keys / vocals). Band founder Peter Green had long since left, but the rhythm section he named the band after remained.

I originally did a Fleetwood Mac tribute mix back in 2013, for the 35th anniversary of 'Rumours'. It's one of my most-streamed mixes from over the years. 

Late last year I remade the mix entirely from scratch, as a pilot for BBC Radio 2.
The commissioning editor told me he liked it, but it was never aired. 

I'm not a fan of 'hard-drive classics', so this felt a good time to upload it.

This version is slightly different to my mix from 12 years ago.
It's a little more succinct (57 mins precisely), uses a few different tracks & samples, and effectively it's all been 'remastered'.

It covers all eras of the band and it's various incarnations, telling the tales of their well-documented personal battles, and their 20+ album legacy that made them one of the most successful bands of all time.
