Another BBC 6 Music Block Party. Continuing on from my recent Gang Starr tribute, we now celebrate 30 years since the release of Guru’s classic debut solo album ‘Jazzmatazz Vol.1’.

This 27-min mix explores the symbiotic relationship between hip hop and jazz, old and new, taking in J Dilla, Madlib, Nujabes, Native Tongues, Digable Planets, Kassa Overall, Raw Poetic, Ty, Young Disciples, Loyle Carner, The Mouse Outfit, Robert Glasper, The Roots and Kendrick Lamar, as well as Guru’s compadres, DJ Premier & Branford Marsalis, plus a bunch more cool cats across 50+ tracks in the mix.

Found this recording from a show me and Tahaj put on back in the early 2000's.....The highlight of the night was having *DJ Ta-shi* (Zulu Nation/Beat Knuckles) and *DJ Shortkut* (Invisibl Scratch Piklz/Beat Junkies/Triple Threat) comin through and rockin' it live on 4 turntables....I ran out of recording discs at the end which explains the abrupt cut off.....

As you can tell from the energy they're puttin down, they were f*cking rocking the place!!!.....people were going bonkers!!!  It was amazing to see their DJ communication and veteran skills in person....still inspires me to this day.....Enjoy...

"Here's a live recording of my set at Glastonbury 2017, keeping it pretty tightly themed to The Get Down - i.e. early 1980s NYC block party music! This was great fun - loved sticking to the theme, and by 20 minutes in it felt more like we were in the Bronx in 1984 by than a tent in a field in Somerset! Excuse some of the dodgy mixing moments, this was all live! Enjoy, and wear full adidas tracksuit to appreciate entirely  :) "
