Broadcast on BBC 6 Music on Sat 25th Jan 2025, this one celebrates the 40th anniversary of Run DMC's sophomore album 'King of Rock', focussing on the legendary Hollis Queens trio's biggest tracks.

The 40-track mix also takes in collabs, samples and interviews, including Beastie Boys, Aerosmith, Onyx, De La Soul, The Pharcyde, Russell Simmons, Chuck D, Ice Cube, Pete Rock, Salt (Salt-N-Pepa), The Stone Roses and Bob James, plus pop culture references from CB4, Abbott Elementary, and various clips from their 2024 Grammy-nominated documentary 'Kings From Queens: The Run DMC Story'.

NYC's Rev Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels & the late great Jason Mizell were true pioneers in the world of hip hop and rock, becoming the first hip hop act to appear on MTV, where they were eventually dubbed the 'Greatest Hip Hop Group of All Time', amongst various accolades. 

The 1984 self-titled debut album on Profile Records was the first hip hop album to go gold, with the follow-up ('King of Rock') the first to go platinum, and third LP ('Raising Hell') the first to go multi-platinum.

From Krush Groove to Live Aid, their style and swagger influenced a generation worldwide for decades.
