On first listen Iggy Pop's Lust for Life doesn't sound particularly original. The drumbeat a lift of You Can't Hurry Love and the layers of additional percussion suggest the Stones' Sympathy for the Devil.

So what's the secret of this rock classic? In short, Iggy Pop's lyrics and performance. There's something joyously lunatic about the ecstatic delivery that propels the song along at super high speed.

Lust for life (Iggy Pop cover)

I've lately been listening a lot to Industrial Ambient and Dark Ambient, like the freakishly amazing compilations by Cryo Chamber,  and also to the early albums by the one and only Jean Michel Jarre; so this part of the jam session was inspired by those musical compositions. To tie in with the previous two parts, this part three consists of several motifs, both measured and calm, and also impulsive and throbbing.

I used a vast amount of sounds, settings and samples and recorded the stereo in Audacity, which I used in post-production to extract the best parts from that jam session in order to create this track. As always, I only used basic audio editing techniques like simple crossfades. Only a touch of soft limiting was applied, no elaborate approaches like mastering were used whatsoever. Thus, the result is raw and highly dynamic in nature, so put on your favourite headphones and turn up that volume knob, because the Loudness War is for losers!

Long before September 11, 2001, there was a September 11, 1950; the birthdate of my wife Terry.  This song started out as a very personal musical portrait of her.  Debra became interested in the track after I sent it to her for collaborative consideration.  The result is something very special for the both of us and we hope you too.  In my playing, I address the intimate side of the song and day. In Debra's playing, she addresses the now much larger meaning of the day for our nation and the world. Ultimately I think what we are saying is that 9/11 is profoundly personal. Each of us, if were old enough to remember, know where we were, what we were doing the day the attacks occurred. The attacks also shook the world, world markets, world travel, and any and all sense of security.   Profound sorrow was draped over our country and any nation that called us friend.  "Stay With Me" is another way of saying "hold me close", "we need each other", and as the track picture suggests "forget me not".    A big "thank you" to Debra for lavishing her talent on this very personal song.    More of her beautiful music can be heard @debra_buesking.

All tracks  are recorded in a spontaneous manner typically in a single take. Most lyrics are also spontaneous improvisations derived from the feelings of the moment. We let the guitar and drums interact and the music just happens. Most if not all of the music is inspired from this interaction.

The recording equipment up until January 2019 consisted of a dated Fostex 8 track and a few microphones...We simply lay down a guitar and drum track and let it unfold the way you are hearing it by bouncing tracks. We just have to make music to live. Music of any kind, music that speaks for itself... 

In January 2019 recording equipment was upgraded to Logic X and a UA Apollo MKll Quad Core Recording interface...We entered a new building and still trying to find the light switch so bare with us as we keep lighting matches...
