Artist Biography:

Dionne Samuels aka “Dionne The Bird Of Paradise” is a woman of many talents. She is a Mother,
Friend, Daughter, Sister, Hairdresser, Poet, Spoken Word Artist and Jamaican Activist seeking Our
Noble Rights.
Dionne is black freedom warrior who utilizes her art and platform to spread the word of Black Unity
and education to strengthen the ties within the Black community. Her motto is “We have Kings and
Queens Strands Built within” and her passion for her people to become united exudes in the
passionate delivery of each and every piece she creates.
Her work is extensive as is her career. She has recited Poetry in Toronto for over Twenty years and
has shared the stage with many great poets including Dawanye Morgan's Up form The Roots, When
Sisters Speak, Honey Jam with Ebony Rowe and Trey Antony Toronto Poetry Slam Finale in
2015 (which she won) and Weekends at The Drake Hotel for their TPS Slams to name just a few.
Dionne has recently published her new book titled “In the Span Of a Sunrise By Dionne The Bird of
Paradise” and is currently working on a new collection of poems from the book set to music and
laughter for the readers listening pleasure; set to be released in March 2021 on www.LuL
