Swedish maestro @Opolopo has been a longtime favourite here at Le Visiteur. Whether he is crafting sublime house, exquisite Nu Disco or off the wall jazz edged house edits he's an artist who's production and dancefloor know how always shines through.

His latest project see's him hook up again with longtime label contact @Localtalk for Opolopo Tweaks a ten track compilation which see's him going to work on some of his favourite tracks from the Local Talk catalogue. The result as you would expect is rather brilliant, and sure to see the compilation capturing DJ's attention across the globe well beyond 2021. 

We have spoken to both Opolopo and Local Talk about the project which you can check on LV online. Now Opolopo has put together a rather brilliant mix for us. Worldship Music celebrates their second release of 2024 in fine style with a brand new record by renowned artist and songwriter Erik Rico's 53rd Street Quintet. In addition to expanding the Worldship roster, this release also marks a stylistic branching out into a contemporary soulful house sound, one that Erik's neo-soul drenched style is closely associated with and one you can hear played in Worldship head honcho Aaron Paar's DJ sets. 

The 53rd Street Quintet drop three jams across the A side, each one embracing a live feel replete with funky instrumentation. Lead cut "The Arrival" layers shouted exaltations alongside hand drums, scratchy guitar licks, and deep chords for dancefloor pleasure. "The Offering" adds some Latin flair to the mix, with the piano and sax riding on top of the infectious drum rhythm sure to get dancers moving. On "The Awakening" a barking electric piano takes the lead, with slick chord work and hand percussion providing the energy while haunting vocals add a dollop of atmosphere on top. 

Over on the B side you can find the Teflon Dons doing their thing, this time with two different remixes of "The Offering". AP's OG Remix Dub shapes proceedings into a classic garage vibe, with cut up sax and strings that work with the drums and bass to transform the track into an MK fan's wet dream. The Teflon Royale Dub takes the track even deeper, increasing the bassline pressure while the echoes drag the piano through the stratosphere into outer space. This is the kind of track sure to have the trainspotters making the stankface while scrambling to find out what it is: simple, yet banging.

Nicknamed "DJ Baby Hec," the Bronx native landed his first job at La Mirage, known at the time as one of the hottest dance clubs in the Bronx. Hector was soon spinning at a number of downtown Manhattan clubs including Save the Robots, Palladium and Roxy as well as The Red Zone where he opened for David Morales. 

His latest release 'Weaving Genres 2' is out now on Nervous Records, and is a fine selection of House music across the full spectrum. Expect to hear tracks from FNX OMAR, Carlos Mena & Satoshi Tomiie. His quality productions and defined sound has meant he had releases on Def Mix, Kings Of Groove, Sunclock and more.

Boca 45 is known as somewhat of a Bristol (UK) institution from his early days in the mid 90s selling Golden Era Hip Hop from behind the counter of the seminal Purple Penguin record shop rapidly becoming one of Bristol’s most in demand DJs for a quick fire mix of bone-cracking breaks, hip hop, coruscating funk, rock and heavy soul these are all of the musical ingredients which make up Forty Five.
Once Scott Boca got to grips with the studio from the early 00’s he’s had continuous releases, remixes, DJ mixes on labels such as Island/Universal, Domino Recordings, Ninja Tunes, Grand Central, Illicit, Jalapeno, Unique & more under a slew of aliases.
At the advent of Scott Boca’s 45th year on planet Earth he decided to hone everything he’s learnt and loved into one killer solo record.
When making Forty Five, Boca pulled together friends, family and footie mates to make a record that would deserving stand as his musical autobiography - that cast list included his Bryan Munich teammates (Geoff Barrow and Billy Fuller from Beak, Ben Salisbury), Kasabian’s Sergio Pizzorno, NYC MC Emskee, New Zealander soul singer Louis Baker and Malachai bandmate Gee.
Forty Five is Scott Bocas life story in twelve cuts; the soundtrack to an immersion in sound, it’s an honest personal statement. His Twin teenage Sons designed the Forty Five Logo, Boca wrote the comprehensive sleeve notes personally breaking down the back ground of each track as well as making the inner collage using images from all of the collaborators on the LP.
The first people to hear the record outside of a close circle of friends was titanic U.S. record label Mass Appeal (home to DJ Shadow, Nas, Run the Jewels and the J Dilla catalogue).
They immediately offered and signed the record in a worldwide deal.
Previously Scott Boca provided a track for the Banksy Movie “Exit Through The Gift Shop” & in 2015 the elusive artist personally requested Boca to DJ with his 45s at the opening night at his Dismal Land Show.
2018 saw Boca release Bocas Club Donuts - a series of five highly covetable, DJ Friendly iron banger 7’’ singles which each sold out within a matter of hours to a rabid set of collectors via only announcements via his own social media channels.
Now on to 2019 Boca is ready to hit the clubs and world wide festivals armed with a heaving box of Vinyl Wax to spread the good word of Forty Five to whip crowds into a frenzy with his crazy collection of hot 7'' donut Forty Fives.
