Alex SLK has brought together several artists to collaborate with for his first official EP to drop on Boey Audio.

Hailing from Riga, the capital of Latvia, Alex SLK has been pushing through the expanse of music so he can be heard for quite some time now. After first discovering drum & bass at the age of eight, he stumbled upon one of his parent’s CDs – one which just happened to be Aphrodite’s self-titled album. His knowledge of the genre began to grow and before long he was pouring over Therapy Sessions mixes, where he was soon influenced by the likes of Technical Itch, Dylan, SPL, Limewax, Robyn Chaos and Audio.

This now translates into the high levels of production which Alex SLK boasts in his own work; the ‘Binary Funk’ is cleverly titled and lets you know what you’re letting yourself in for when you first press the play button. Its title-track features an undertow of funk peppered with rolling sub bass and gritty snares, whilst a heavyweight, beating drum pattern sits underneath and it’s the track’s driving force.

The fifth installment in the Depth series also marks the official induction of Bisity into the fam via a staunch collaborative track titled "Clouded Thoughts". It's available as a Free Promotional Download as part of the release.

Next up, Envydnb joins Alex SLK for ‘Sonar’, a record which follows similar sonic patterns although does this through the merging of two powerful forces. Envy adds the sweeping layers whilst SLK delivers the patches of guttural bass sounds which he’s renowned for across his catalogue. And lastly, Alex SLK adds into the mix Kyst Cortezo for ‘No Tears’. With growling vocals sitting on top of a moody bass rhythm and glowing atmospherics, you’re taken out into the deep but the EP’s final track.

Each Artist was picked for good reason, no messing about, straight back to back rollers, Bangers and Vibers. Some ready made for the Dance, some just so interesting we needed to put 'em on there and then some so damn lush we thought they needed to be heard!

The LP has been getting support from some of the Dons of the Tech/ Minimal Scene and a great response on radio across the globe.

Counterpoint (since 2013) is a Drum & Bass label and collective from Porto, Portugal. Our focus on the deep sound has led us to develop an introspective and intimate approach to the sound of Drum & Bass, and all 160+ BPM Bass Music.

As summer settles in, and festival season goes into peak stage, we keep pushing the bar within our ‘Counter x Culture’ series. Following on a sequence of successful CXC releases which brought to light some of the most talented new producers within the Drum & Bass, we now present one of the most serious contenders for breakthrough artist of the year. Hailing from the ever proliferate Belgian scene, Lavance reveals a breathtaking single with 2 unique tracks, which capture a wide range of influences, and delivers a fresh super-sonic approach to our essential bassline groove.

With two Skankandbass releases under his belt, Lavance first caught our ears last year with a series of very good releases, which approached the deep sound in a very dancefloor-oriented way. Rated by UKF as one of the 19 Belgian Drum & Bass producers “you need to know”, he has been working very hard to live up to the hype and excelling at the task. As he starts to gather experience both in studio and on the DJ booth, he is carving his unique highly energetic sonic imprint, which keeps surprising you in every bar.

‘Glaucus’ makes a complete shift in direction as it takes the expression “off the beaten path” to the full extent. Not trying to fit in any boxes and not assuming any dogmas, the whole track is one big progressive experiment. The crazy arrangement of high-end lead sounds work together with a hint of trap music influence, to create this unique piece. Starting out with an unexpected two-step drum pattern, the changes keep coming as the track evolves, peaking in the half-time switch of the second drop. The whole journey is brought together by an immense low-end pressure, which gives all listeners a warm embrace.

Detoxic brings forth the damage for SDDNB010!

Dark and techy vibes for this one as we shed light on to the upcoming Polish producer, a real nice signature sound to it which really captivated us.

"Into Your Mind" coming in with the monstrous growls and heavy bassline, while "Subconscious" is a roller that will get you nodding your head in no time!

Definitely one to keep an eye on, more great music will be coming from his side undoubtedly.

Renowned for their own distinctive sounds, the next release on Dispatch Recordings brings together two producers with their own unique take on drum and bass. Perfectly complimenting the other’s style, the three tracks that make up DIS150 reveal a creative pairing that we hope to see more of.

‘Enhanced Realism’ strips back complex production methods to enhance the key components of old distorted Emu breaks, classic filters and short verbs to give us that classic ‘warehouse’ tonality.

For ‘Perpetual Motion’ Wreckless shows us his first foray in to a less syncopated style, maximising the straight step grooves that Brain does so well. The bass seems to continually fall throughout the track, working in contrast with the groove for maximum effect.

‘Incendio’ is a minimal stepper packed with a dirty acid filter bass, and that trademark Wreckless syncopation carries throughout the track, rounded nicely with deep pads and the minimal flavours Brain is known for. Perhaps the standout track on the release this really one captures both producer’s individual styles well.
