Sonic alchemy of glitchy psychedelic frequencies

Soloe is the creative brainchild of Indian electronic music producer/DJ, Suhas Srinivas. Combining elements from various genres such as halftime, glitch hop, drum and bass, and downtempo, his music is an eclectic mix of groovy drums and glitchy psychedelic sound design paired with melodic ambient instrumentation and ethereal soundscapes that take you on a journey through emotionally captivating frequencies.

Chanpan is an up-and-coming Asian American band composed of Grace Dumdaw and identical twins Lance and Matthew Tran. Since their start busking the streets of Chinatown to being caught in viral videos, they’ve already been praised by Vogue as a “very cool New York band”, featured in New York Times’ T Magazine, and recognized by Live Nation’s Ones to Watch. The trio’s individual accolades in politics, community organizing, and film & television have been featured by The New Yorker, HBO, Billboard, CNN, and more.

Roel Funcken officially popped up on the scene in 2010, with his solo debut, titled Vade, out on Ad Noiseam. But fans of electronic music, and IDM in general, have been tracking this Dutch musician for over a decade prior, when, along with his brother, Don, the duo has released some of the genre defining music on labels such as Djak-Up-Bitch, Schematic, Sublight Records, Neo Ouija, n5MD , Arcola (Warp) as the one and only Funckarma. In 2009 the Funcken brothers kicked off their very own, digital-only, Funcken Industry imprint, which hosted a few of their other projects and offshoots, such as Shadow Huntaz, Scone, Quench, Automotive, and the latest from Roel's solo works. Roel continues to influence the evolution of music through numerous releases (Sapper Morton on Analogical Force, Semtinal Convex on Methlab and Prester Hynn on his own imprint to name a few) and active engagement in the community, with music festival curation, mixes on mixlr and soundcloud and weekly playlists on Soundcloud and spotify. Roel's music is advanced in sound design, often incorporating unique experimentation in electronic sound, with cut-up, twisted, atmospheric sonic soundscapes, leaving the cranium always begging for more. His ambient textures maintain a cinematic quality throughout, while his percussive arrangements retain a constantly mutating framework, always reconstructing its rhythm and structure, contradicting complex configurations and minimal design. The duo il est Vilaine believes that their first track breathes the masculine fragrance of some James dean stepping out of a backroom. it’s a lot worse. With deep bass and highly pitched gimmicks, the duo is not so much of an electronic pun, rather a dancing machine combining the efficiency of good old acid-house and the hypnotic features of productions such as remote, kill the dJ or Tim Paris. At once wild and Western, urban and mystical, we are happily confronted with a sound, an identity- a rare occurrence in these days of neat clean electro-pop. eschewing the fashion and uniformity of some sterile purism, il est Vilaine’s first record, released by dialect, is quite perfect, like a road movie with dennis hopper on Akira’s bike. And it would end at a rave party in some warehouse, obviously.
