This is a "live" recording that took place in Waukegan Il.
Nov.5,2010 at Family Piano company at their Joplin Java
performance arena.
Boise often is available to perform there and it was a thank you "free public" performance to all of those that supported Boise's performances in the past:especially to Alice and Frank Alviani of Family Piano Co.
Boise was to undergo cancer treatment on Nov.9,2010 at the Univ. of Chicago Hospital for stage 4 head/neck cancer.

Here's an original jazz work that was recorded during a home rehearsal session in 1999.
Savannah Winds.  It was composed in 1998 and appears on Boise Queen's earliest cd
album "Sun Voyage" The recording presented here is not in
mp3 format but the CD is however.

When Boise was asked what inspired this 
original composition…,He replied humorously;
“anyone trying to play this piece at my age  will probably turn into
a "Code Blue"; trying to do it playing piano and keyboard
simultaneously.

The recording was made July 10,1983 at the

It was intended on being a "rehearsal"; however in those 
days, what often came out was the "unexpected".
If the session was good and useable ....it was recorded as a keeper
If not....well try again!

Composers Note:
This is Boise's most celebrated and recent qriginal work.  Rhapsody for Classic Film for Piano and Orchestra.  This work was originally conceived in 1973 as a short work for solo piano.
It was inspired by the 1954 romantic film classic : Rhapsody" starring the late great Elizabeth Taylor and Vittorio Gassman.  The work underwent numerous bouts of revisions since then and in 2001 after the untimely death of Boise's wife after a long illness ; the work was abandoned .
It wasn't until recently in late 2010 when Boise was undergoing treatment for cancer that a friend and colleague discovered an old and badly worn tape cassette of the "unfinished" piano and orchestra version of the work and urged Boise to finish it. 

As part of his daily "regimen of personal therapy" in keeping his mind and body in shape that was slowly deteriorating to the side effects of the cancer treatment;  Boise undertook the final revisions of the rhapsody which is credited to having played a significant role in saving his life.
Throughout the pain,the weight loss,the sickness and the mental impairment Boise went to work from Jan.27 to March 30,2011 feverishly working on the piano and orchestration needed to finish a work that was started some thirty eight years ago.
Upon Boise's successful recovery and return home in April,2011; Rhapsody for Classic Film was completed and with Boise at the piano; its debut performance given that following July 10,2011 at Steiner Pavilion
in Waukegan, IL.  This was a tribute concert to Mark McCloud ,co-owner of Family Piano Co. who had recently passed away.
The CD recording was done on August 28,2011 at  Family Piano performance arena in Waukegan, involving members of the "Green Town" Orchestra and AFS Digital Media Services.
The recording was done using a blend of both acoustic and digital instrumentation .
The piano used by Boise Queen was a newly purchased $ 100,000 "Sauter" Concert Grand piano.

This work presented in memory to the children at "Newtown Conn" and also most recently to the victims and the families of the "Boston Marathon" tradgedy.




Rhapsody for Classic Film for piano and Orchestra

I'm composing and producing an album titled "Clairvoyant: Music inspired by video games". For me, video games are the most inspiring medium of my generation. This album will be my own musical interpretation of a number of games and franchises that inspired me. 

Each track will be titled based on the game that inspired it. This one in particular is a homage to SciFi action games, which will be named once the full list of tracks is available.

ABOUT THE PIANIST/COMPOSER:
Mr. Boise Bernard Queen is almost 100% self-taught as a composer/pianist.
Having studied privately in his early years on piano; he was a 2nd year student at what was formerly the Chicago School of Music from 1962-1964.
He attended for a short time; the Chicago Conservatory of Music but then embarked mostly on his own from 1965- 1978. It was during this period of time that he began to focus his attention
more to studying contemporary and classical composers primarily in the'post-romantic' period through to present day.
Boise took a very strong interest in "film music" thus composing several short works for both solo piano and small orchestra.
One of his most popular was his " Seven Day's in May" (1973); which later became the principle theme to his Concerto for Piano and Orch in
C-sharp minor. Having received very little else in formal training in either orchestration or piano pedagogy; Boise studied the creative works of master composers
of both European and American decent.Along with that he studied many of the compositions of both European and American born Afro-Americans from folk songs to
some of the most pensively beautiful works for both the piano and orchestra involving symphonies,concerto's and choral works dating as back as the 16th century.
Boise has developed a remarkable improvisation ability ,not  only with familiar jazz and pop standards but also with
contemporary and classically themed film scores.
