This piece merges the formal structure of a classic rag with the melodic language of the Baroque era. The familiar, jaunty rhythm of ragtime is cast in a new light, used to explore a deeper, more wistful sadness not typically found in the genre. It's the soundtrack for a gray afternoon at the carnival.

"Tangled Tango" heightens the natural passion of the dance by infusing it with dramatic classical elements. The track builds on the unmistakable tango rhythm, weaving in complex instrumental lines to create a sense of cinematic tension and release. It’s a dance of intricate steps and high-stakes emotion.


Tangled Tango

A high-energy, fast-tempo novelty rag that takes its cue from the virtuosic "touch" of a Baroque toccata. The title itself is a playful pun on the Italian word toccata (to touch), and the music lives up to it—a witty, intricate, and dazzling display of fast fingers on the keys, closing the set with a smile.
