Grid's fourth release comes from Italian duo, Ltd Colours. Showcasing a more profound side to the label, it adds another string to their bow. The whole EP is a masterclass in bubbling tension, leading to euphoric releases & pressured build-ups. The four tracks veer from each other with emotive chords and scattered percs, to more sterner club tools laced with fascinating polyrhythms.

'Messy Objects' kicks off the EP, keeping you on your toes with spiralling rhythms, slowly adding more and more textures to the track until it breaks down & rises back up to juicy sub-bass and a captivating kick drum pattern.
'Quartz' brings it down a notch, starting with low swung bass and a semi sped up mutant techno/dancehall beat, before switching up to a more busy, percussive workout.
'Patterns' keeps it on the same tempo, but rolls out into a deep, polyrhythmic number with a slight UK flavour. Trance-inducing throughout, you'll lose yourself in this lead track.
Finishing off the release, 'ProjectSerjjj' flips it with a 4x4 driver, laced with undulating rhythms and electro tinges. It samples a perfectly modulated vocal throughout and is a perfect end to a stunning EP.

Naarm based producer and DJ, Recluse is known for his harder and more percussive productions as the owner of the label Rouge Cuts. But for this instalment of Labour of Love, he has stripped back his sound and taken a more gentle approach.

Recluse - "I've taken this opportunity to display my love of composers that work in the realm of soundtracks. In the past, I've taken so much influence in my production from music found in my favourite games, anime and films, and wanted to highlight some of the tracks and composers that I've enjoyed the most in my life. The style of the mix itself is based upon youtube mixes that I'd often put on when reading, working or sleeping. I hope you enjoy this dreamy mix format I've attempted and hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it".

BKV013 is 7 inches of infectious, Osaka-matured, aquatic dub from 7FO. 7FO-san has been in touch with Bokeh for over a year and kindly showed them round Kyoto on the BKV Japan world tour (we ate a baby squid that had a boiled egg where the brain used to be - crazy).

This is 7FO’s first proper wax outing after homegrown albums made local waves with his fusion of Japanese new age and dub miniatures. Previous albums also had mastering credits by Bokeh alumni and Osaka mixing desk alchemist Kabamix.

2016 saw 7FO reach wider audiences with Water Falls Into A Blank, a cassette and multi-media project via RVNG Intl’s Commend See series. Bandcamp user Standard Grey summed it up best:

“If Joe Meek lived on to collaborate with Harry Hosono and Inoyama Land and make idiosyncratic dubbed out Japanese Minyo and off-world colony exotica... “

‘Water Vapour’ features the enigmatic Sea Urchin - the duo of Francesco Cavaliere (on FX) and Leila Hasan (on otherworldly vocals). They’ve released an LP for Belgian imprint Kraak and Francesco notched a 2016 highlight with his solo LPs on Hundebiss.
