Ultrademon, real name Lilium Redwine, is an experimental musician and researcher exploring the intersections of electronic music, archaeo-acoustics, and prehistoric archaeology. Active for over two decades, she first emerged in the early 2010s on Aphex Twin's Rephlex Records. Her work spans exhibitions, performances, and collaborative projects, often drawing on her background in archaeology and engaging with themes of the underworld. In recent years, she has moved beyond emotionally driven dance music, incorporating black metal vocals, waves of distortion, and atmospheric, narrative-driven textures into her albums and performances.

In this episode, the mix delves into the realm of sonic imagination—a space where internal and external listening coalesce into a musical creation through polyphony of the imagined, remembered, mimicked, and perceived sounds. Voice plays a central yet fluid role, appearing both as a material and a metaphor: it is the echo chamber of the inner sonic world, ventriloquistically speaking through the musical compositions. The mix explores the invisible gestation of sound before it becomes a form. But the mix also expands beyond the voice, featuring works shaped through field recordings, algorithms, tapes, instruments, and synthetic processes—sonic tools that serve as extensions of the imagination. This mix listens into those fugitive moments, tracing how sonic ideas travel from mental acoustics into audible forms.

Elif Gülin Soğuksu is an electroacoustic composer, performer, and researcher born in Istanbul and currently based in Berlin. She holds her master’s degree at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague (NL). Elif draws inspiration from the fugitive behavior and cross-modality of imagination in sound; her compositional practice grounds on catching the sounds of the mind. She researches essentially on the human voice as a potent in the formation of mentally produced sounds. Her electroacoustic pieces and live performances bridge algorithmic approaches, including voice-driven live electronics and creative coding, digital processing, acousmatic music, and spatial sound. She released her debut EP on Søvn Records in July 2024 and released other music on Riforma, and MIC Lithuania labels. She works as a sound designer for multidisciplinary projects and as a sound engineer and technician for live concerts. Her recent and upcoming residencies include *Topia Festival (DE), Kintai.Kitaip (LT), Sound Topographies GMEA Albi (FR), Elektronmusikstudion EMS Stockholm (SE), among others. She is currently doing an internship at MONOM Berlin.

Mars89 is a crucial member of the Tokyo’s Chopstick Killahz, a self-described “Post Tribal DJ Unit” lurking on the fringes of the city’s grime scene. Mars89’s self released his debut EP East End Chaos in 2016 on a limited run of zines. He’s also recently composed music for Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo 2017A/W and started a residency at Bristol’s Noods Radio.
