Tim Reaper returns to Lobster Theremin with a weighty masterclass of all things old school jungle, rave and D&B. 

2020 has been a massive year for the rising London-based DJ/producer Tim Reaper, with an impressive output of twelves on labels such as 7th Storey Projects, Disc World & Repertoire, Beyond Electronix. On top of this, Reaper was also nominated in the ‘Breakthrough Producer’ category at this years DJ Mag awards, as well as the ‘Best Remix/Edit’ category. 2020 has paved the way for what is set to be a massive future from the versatile producer, his infectious brand of high energy jungle & D&B is making him the producer on everyones lips. 

His latest outing ‘Teletext’ EP for London based record label Lobster Theremin explores deep all things bass driven, head high rave breaks sit on top of euphoric vocals and synth patterns, creating a feel good masterpiece. Tim joins forces with long time friend & collaborator Devnull on two tracks, blending both of the producers individual sounds into a hybrid mash up, which works oh so good.

Fresh off his recent release on Vancouver staple Pacific Rhythm, Toronto-based artist Emissive (real name Evan Vincent) has been doing bits in his hometown and beyond. His 'Wave Science' EP is a house masterpiece. By virtue of the reel-to-reel used in its production, we hear warm and saturated analogue drums underlying soulful synth stabs and funked basslines, ultimately creating a uniquely hazy cosmic funk feeling throughout the record. In addition to his solo work under the alias Emissive, he is also one half of the house music duo Active Surplus alongside his friend Ian Syrett. It's safe to say, we're huge fans of his work here at BB HQ. 

Aside from his production work, Emissive is also an incredible DJ - hosting a monthly show on n10.as radio as well as performing live sets in and around his beloved hometown of Toronto. A listen through his recorded sets paints a picture of a mature musician, clearly influenced by the early Black American pioneers of house music - we thoroughly recommend you checking those sets out for yourselves too ; )

Tripped-out, leisurely house and breaks comprises the next drop on Haŵs, and for the established Welsh imprint, number 13 is far from unlucky – in fact, it’s coming in as ecstatic. Perth producer Guy Contact takes the reigns for ‘Euphoria Simulator’, a 6-track EP radiating with all the charm and optimism of a liberated future.

Opening the first of four house tracks, ‘Into The Blue’ makes light work of bass melodies and fresh kicks, bouncing skywards as though emerging from a thinning fog into a clear day. ‘Nice 2 B Free’ is imbued with touches of sentimentality, pouring outwards like the laissez-faire movements of a serene dancer entwined within a group of friends. The eccentric ‘Whip Crack Cowboy’ takes the camaraderie of country twang into a colourful new world, mediating psychedelic guitar strings into harmony with synths and a cathartic house beat.

On the B-side, the titular ‘Euphoria Simulator’ doubles down on the bass but keeps its overall ride light and airy, dipping between piano, synths and rhythms warm enough to breathe emotion into a cold room. The final two tracks untether from their house confines: ‘Amphibian Pool’ dubs down into a hypnotic, marine-level drift, elongating croaky basslines alongside punchy breaks and acid lines during its descent. Finally, ‘Subaquatic Jungle’ hits the ocean floor, discovering an enigmatic world alive with a fauna of percussion and distortions that slope through dense, bassy undercurrents.

For anyone looking to impart a kaleidoscope of blissful feelings onto dancefloors, ‘Euphoria Simulator’ sits patiently ready to heighten the senses.

For the non-montrealers Pascale Project might just be a producer on their radar, but for those living in this city and involved one way or another with the scene she is this wild, poised and enthusiastic force that simply can not go unnoticed. Whether unleashing 140 bpm rave joints with a punk attitude or crafting her extremely singular brand of lush and enticing house tracks (songs?), she just pushes forward, not second guessing her impulses towards dancefloor ecstasy in all its form.

Teaming up with La Rama -another essential force keeping Montreal dancefloors alive- Pascale is releasing a new EP, “Where’s The Party?”, where she finds herself asserting her will to dance and make you dance more than ever. We asked her a few questions about the new EP and her work. She was nice enough to let us know more about her process and to record a new entry in our Mixed-By series.

Corina MacDonald aka CMD has been busy recently, releasing two EPs in the last few months of 2021; Precarious Pursuit on Bandcamp and Social Factory Reset with the US label Fixed Rhythms. For Montrealers, her voice might be familiar from CKUT radio where she hosts the program Modular Systems every other Sunday. As a producer and DJ, she has performed at editions of MUTEK, Piknic Electronik, Igloofest, and in many of Montreal’s club nights and venues, where she fuses synth-laden aesthetics of acid, techno, electro, and house music. This mix is representative of some of her musical predispositions, setting the more abstract and ambient up against some techno and electro gems, mixing up the old guard and newcomers alike.

Lyon, France’s LB aka LABAT inaugurates his new imprint Poumpet Records this February with its first single, ‘Feel The Beat’, backed by a remix from Australia’s partiboi69.

Over the past seven years Strasbourg-born now Lyon-based, DJ, Producer and Live Act LB aka LABAT has been soul drenched, dusty House, Techno, Electro and Downtempo grooves via the likes of Wolf Music, Steel City Dance Discs, Groovedge Records and course his own Alélah Records run alongside Polow with a focus on cassette and vinyl releases. Here though we see LB aka LABAT open a new chapter in his career with the launch of his new imprint Poumpet Records which will be dropping a single every month throughout 2022 alongside remixes from some kindred spirits along the way.

To set the tone of Poumpet Records, LABAT launches with debut single ‘Feel The Beat’, a dynamic rave-tinged groove fuelled by hip-house vocal chants, crunchy, organic drums and an amalgamation of jazzy keys, wandering strings and airy atmospherics throughout its near eight-minute duration.

Mutual Pleasure and Unprotected Records artist partiboi69 also steps in on remix duties to kick things off, upping the energy levels even more with a robust, broken rhythm and snaking arpeggio bass hooks ebbing and flowing amongst fragments of the original’s vocal lines and ethereal pads.

A staple within the Canadian scene, and eclectic as ever - just have a listen to some of his releases and you will notice how they vary considerably. From his club stomping EP for Planet Euphorique to the etheral spacey soundscapes found on his Pacific Rhythm LP - the Vancouver native never fails to surprise us with each release, whilst still maintaining his distinctive hazy sound. The inimitable, Detroit-born, UK based producer and DJ, Demi Riquísimo returns to his unbounded Semi Delicious imprint with a 4-track EP with feature vocals from one of London’s most in-demand DJs - Lulah Francs.

Delivering another delectable spread of speaker rumbling house music in a variety of dancefloor flavours, Demi sets off with title track ‘Rush Common’. A steady rolling kick, with his signature live-feel hi-hats are joined by a rumbling 909 groove and massive synth chords and a wandering acid-lead. Simple, effective, fearless house music.

‘Paroche’ brings the authentic Italo-influenced flavours that Demi has become renowned for. Sampled female vocal chants dissect a metric, live drum groove with lush pads and an oozing, wandering arp synth running through the centre. – Demi also includes a huuuuge, Extended Balearic Mix for the bubbling Ibiza terraces throughout the summer.

‘Circulate’ showcases fellow Londoner Lulah Francs vocal leads, across a gnarly FM synth lead and sassy Roland drum groove. Lulah’s enchanting vocals give this one an extra edge to captivate any dancefloor it meets.

‘Don’t Feed The Tiger’ combines Indo-influences with modal vocals and an eastern instrumentation to bask in under the midday sun. A slower tempo from a live-drum groove offers space to move between shaded trees, barefoot in the Balearic sands.

Estonian duo Abdul Raeva kick things off for Physical Education in 2023. Marking the label’s first release of this year, Passion de la Passion is a four-track excursion into the outer realms of tech house, acid and everything in between.

The Caballero Thrust Programme initiates proceedings, doing exactly what it says on the tin. Much like a rocket launching, tribal drums open into a slinky synth pattern, before acid-flecked pulses take us deep into starry, spaced-out territories.

Karima’s Duff Duff is of a similar ilk, rolling with a telltale rhythm. Techy, synthy
and built for the late night hours, we journey through celestial bleeps at pace, opening the door for Ooga Booga Acid Time.

In six and a half minutes, the pair leave few prisoners in their wake, dishing up a racey tech-driven number that’s packed full of punchy percussive groove.

Finally, Hard Discount Primitivo brings us back down to Earth. Minimal-leaning, with an old school house touch, echoing vocals shimmer whilst whip-like kick-hat combos march on, forming a clear-cut slice of club-ready dancing material.

Having been in Montreal for 4 years now, Emiliano’s imprint in the city’s tight-knight music scene has grown stronger each year. Emiliano Chamandy, a talented and resourceful musician, producer, DJ, booker & promoter from Mexico, has been putting the jog-wheels to use for over 7 years now. From spinning wax to composing trax, it’s clear he lives and breathes electronic music. Based in Montreal now, his commitment to the craft has caught the ear of many. Since the early days of his Barbossa residency, Chamandy keeps driving his momentum onward, turnin’ heads each & every weekend.

Emiliano pushes deeper into the scene once again, presenting the debut release on his new label SEER RECORD CO. The standout for the Bolting Bits crew is the A2 - Smooth House (Tribute). Chamandy produced the track in dedication to the OG NY House tune by Barkim & Langel (from the Mission Inhousable-EP). Twisting his version with a personal touch and analog feel, the track features fellow members from his Montreal crew - The Fella’s Q-Tips. Formed upon punchy kicks, Emiliano balances shimmering arpeggios (played by Boogaloo Jones), a chunky modulating bassline, and macro-structural nuances that amplify the lushy dreamy chords (played by Maxime Miaja). A dancefloor mover of the highest proportions; battle-tested and approved at many of Montreal’s recent jubilant jams.

DJ Merlín and Match Box put their heads together on the long-anticipated split EP ‘Krafthaus001’. Gaspero is addressing concrete matters for his debuts on 39 Rec, delivering five trancyprog dancefloor ready cuts.

Starting the menu with a hot and juicy pho 777,  you will have to go through the energized Trance Gate to reach the initial version of the Concrete Matters. You’ll then enter an endless argument with Germain CLS trying to determine the best opinion to stand for on the matters. Once realizing there won’t be any pose on the argument you’ll understand why the Pho was so Phychedelicious and maybe start the concrete process again.

Germain CLS, active member of the French collective Hors Sol, assisted Gaspero on the mixdown of this EP. He has signed it with an intense club-oriented version of the EP’s eponym track Concrette Matters.

As the track version’s name suggests, Germain CLS no pose remix won’t let you any chance to rest with a modern trance approach and psyche vocals which are a good reflection of Hors Sol universe.

We were fortunate to have Cape Town's own Biodive for a remix, bringing a driving yet minimal sound, effortlessly captivating listeners.

A1, Subatomic, seizes the spotlight with its relentless, driving energy. It immerses us in a 2001 trance soundscape, featuring sharp synth lines and dynamic vocal chops, while echoing, panned stabs enhance the track's deep, otherworldly ambiance.

River Torque, panning UFO pads from a different dimension, shifting gears with precision. A tunnelling groove locks in, firing us straight into peak-time. Direct, relentless, and built for the highest intensity—this one drives everything forward. No escape, just pure momentum.

A3 sees Astro reconnect with his dub-techno origins, pulling in the deep, atmospheric vibes of his early work. Basic Channel-inspired textures are unmistakable, but here they surge. Reverb-soaked layers cascade over a pumping 909, while razor-sharp hats slice through the fog, propelling the track into a hypnotic, futuristic drive.

Wormhole is your go-to for testing low-end limits—bass-heavy, deep, and undeniable. This might be the most floor-shaking, post-pumping Astro track yet. The rich, undying textures crafted from the Blofeld Waldorf deliver sweeping alien FX, creating a soundscape that feels both immersive and extraterrestrial.

Biodive is one of those rare artists who can take a track to another level, almost transcending into another dimension. This remix embodies a minimal yet fierce Detroit sound—stripped down but powerful, hitting with precision and intensity. It’s the perfect choice to close out the EP, leaving a lasting impression with its raw energy and driving beat.

On the imprint’s latest, Oath takes the vibrations right up into the slipstreams via Elfenberg’s latest slice of proggy, euphoria driven excellence….

Elfenberg has become a well known figure within dance music spheres for his expertly crafted and otherworldly chuggy sound. Taking cues from a wide variety of influences, Elfenberg’s music slots in very nicely within the most celebrated of trance laden progressive house and techno - with his signature twist always allowing for a few surprises along the way. Each release he has brought to the fore has provided another string to his impressive bow, fuelling the dance and the emotions with delicate, poised techniques. As much as his tunes are dance floor orientated, his sound has a subtly and deftness to it, an enchanted rhythmic and melodic blend that gives over so much to the listener. His sound ensnares the senses, providing moments to get lost within and moments in which to let yourself go - a music universe that has always remained acutely blended and emotionally poised.

‘Ritmo Paradiso’ contains all of Elfenberg’s signature motifs, but as always it's an EP which spreads itself sonically wide but presents a soundscape which is razor sharp in its focus. The title track swings into view with a deep, pulsating bass and drum loop, which shifts frequency to draw focus to the high hat that slides into the mid section. His recent Hadal Zone EP on Gimme A Break Records is a testament to his dedication, a project that took two years to perfect. This past year has seen him step further into the spotlight, taking his sound on tour across Asia, where he’s connected with audiences from Singapore to Japan. The mix he’s crafted for us was recorded at Wild Pearl Radio in Singapore, capturing the energy of his travels in a carefully built progression of tempo and intensity.

Irish-born, Berlin-based DJ, producer and sound engineer Sara Miller returns to Permanent Vacation with 'Oceanic Dream', a three-track EP shaped by her signature blend of emotional resonance and dance floor euphoria. The release follows her acclaimed Lunar Theory EP (2023), her vinyl debut Cervo on Cracki Records (2024), and remixes on Permanent Vacation and Live at Robert Johnson (2024).

Miller’s trajectory has been defined not only by her studio output but also by her presence on Europe’s most iconic dance floors, from Panorama Bar and Robert Johnson to Tresor, London’s Phonox, and Barcelona’s Nitsa. In 2024, she was selected for the Detroit-Berlin Residency, spending two months at Submerge, headquarters of Underground Resistance. There she collaborated with Detroit artist Shawescape Renegade on a hardware live show and was immersed in the city’s culture of resilience, community spirit and innovation. The residency left an enduring impression, enriching her creative voice and reinforcing her dedication to sustainable, community-driven artistry.

"Oceanic Dream" channels this duality: introspective yet euphoric, grounded yet transcendent. Opener “Odyssey” carries the spirit of 90s progressive house into a dreamlike state with its gliding synths, shuffling groove and euphoric vocal samples tracing a hypnotic arc between movement and reflection. “Don’t Stop” takes the energy higher, with a bubbling acid line and soaring synths that push the track toward its zenith, a moment built for the peak of the night. Iron Curtis has been quietly crafting house music for many years, so it's fitting he is the first man to drop a full-length on West Yorkshire's finest label, Hudd Traxx. He shows his full range here, and while there are concessions to the full-length format, such as an immersive ambient opener steeped in cosmic radiance, there are also plenty of effective club cuts high on personality. Deep below the murky depths of South London’s clad cement footpaths lay a dormant strain of sound, slower, sludgy, dripping clastic eras fused into a 2025 neurotic composition of organic euro rack machinery. This unearthed excavation is led by Jack Reardon - a well versed songwriter in previous project incarnations - now presenting his latest output under Leaches - an experimental electronic project featuring Alex Hollingsworth as live session member and co-producer. We could not be more excited to welcome the project to Power Station with the first self titled ep Leaches [PS019].

Just as the track titles suggest of prehistoric times, ‘Pangaea’ starts the EP with fractured kicks, swirling cut up voices chaotically unearthed, reassembled, and adapting to a new sonic climate. It’s a reconstruction of something ancient, revealing unexpected proximity to the present.

On ‘Mammoth’, Leaches fuses the chaos of micro organic vocal chops with industrial precision. Half-time rhythms and distorted kicks drive a churning, IDM-inflected landscape that feels both primal and machine-born — a resurrection of lost forms in motion.
 Lastly ‘Icarus’ closes the EP with an extended trance state intro. A singular pad rises, evolves, slowly building, reaching for the skies and just while soaring through the upper layer of the sonic atmosphere, resistance hits and you start hurtling to earth, grounding oneself back to Mother Nature in a fitting mythos metaphor of the risks of flying too close to the sun.

Leaches situates itself between post-industrial intensity and experimental introspection — a debut that bridges prehistoric imagination with contemporary electronic experimentation.

Incentive Program opens the EP's A side with a drifting, trance-tinged flow wrapped in sweeping pitch movements and fractured vocals. The track sets a shadowy, almost sinister atmosphere, pulling all witnesses into its slow-burn gravity. It's a steady build, tipping the floor over the edge. Stiff Envelope pulls you into its depths as it continues to build tension with resonating synth hits that quiver over a powerful trance foundation. With a few moments of silence that let its unsettling atmosphere settle across the stereo field before swinging back in at full force, this one is tailor-made for big systems.

B side's Ground Floor carries on with metallic swells and shimmers that ring underneath the surface as the tension built on the A side bursts, settling into a grounding four-on-the-floor moment and leaving just enough time to breathe before Raleigh stirs up a concoction of devious vocals, snappy percussion, and a seductive bassline that lifts the mood tastefully. Takenaga wraps up the record with Head Count, a razor-sharp blend of crisp percussive cuts and stuttered crumbles that are seeking the perfect pitch all the way, climbing up and down. Heads are counted on a lively groove that radiates playful momentum and commands the dance floor to get in formation, keeping a tight rhythmic focus. Infused with the pulse of UK club culture, this track delivers a fresh and forward-thinking sound perfect for adventurous turntables.

An extraterrestrial EP by our Belgrade regular, DJ and producer Cosmic G, again showing his undeniable talent in propelling listeners through his highly hallucinogenic club sound. Dream Raw Recordings, self-proclaimed underground label for all kind of fresh dreamy, hazy, lo-fi, raw house, are gearing up to release a V/A comp of gems from a staggering, 36 artists. Faithful to the motto, “too many good tracks,” DRR decided it’d make sense to organize a digital release full of tunes from artists you may already follow, and a bunch you most likely do not. The collection of tracks is wide ranging, spanning mellow house full of dreamy pads and emotional detuned lo-fi pianos to tape recorded acid jams and jungle.

An immediate standout from the pack, Belfast producer Wallabee’s “Feel” features a dramatic, vintage sounding piano loop that creeps over deep drums and under signature lo-fi hats and snares. Adding more fuel to the fire, a heavily reverbed sample of Timbaland’s famous adlibs on Aaliyah’s “Are You That Somebody” is the perfect complement to an already tripped out track. If you were up on your stuff, you would have heard this track already. Five months ago, Wallabee self-released it via his SoundCloud page. Having smartly signed the track, Dream Raw adds an excellent track to an already impressive collection of tunes. A dig through Wallabee’s discography shows a penchant for deep lo-fi house, glistening pianos, and heavy reverb. One could easily get lost in more than one of his productions. Hint, hint…someone should sign his other track, “2K17.” For many, this will be a nice intro to an unknown producer, and we’ll certainly be watching out for Wallabee’s next releases.

Stay tuned for the rest of the compilation to drop. At 36 tracks, there are bound to be a couple you’ll love.

Axe on Wax readies the second release from their sub-label PNP and as we’ve come to expect from them it’s a quality V/A stocked full of bangin’ edits. Fans of lo-fi, disco house, and deep house will all find something worthwhile here, and these will certainly be receiving club play from many of your favorite DJs.

In addition to tracks from Slamb, Turk Turkelton, Fede Lng, and gutinstinct, the PNP 002 features a track from the 18 year old German slugger DJ Swagger (soundcloud). Swagger, having previously released on Natural Sciences and E-Beamz, is in top form here, delivering an energetic track with a cheeky sample, buttery smooth chords, and a classic 909 drum workout. This isn’t ground breaking work, but compared to more “basic” lo-fi disco edits this proves to be something special. Swagger’s choice of sample was key here, and his manipulation of the female vocal is the cherry on top of an already solid record. If you’ve been following his progress as a producer, you already know that Swagger is a versatile musician; he’s released everything from lo-fi house to deep house to breaks to acid and techno, a testament to the young German’s matured musical talent. Keep an eye on this kid.

With his shift to a more deeper sound in the past few years @DeejayAstral has crafted a dark and brooding style reminiscent of earlier house and techno. On “Duality” from his new Pack the Pipe split EP on @whos-susan with @Fede-Lng, the Berlin based producer creates a moody atmosphere with elements from both the UK and German scenes. 

The bassline drifts and drifts across the track, leaving space for the warmth and pulse of the kick and hi-hats. Over time it loosens more and finds moments to fill the space in between other sounds with its depth. The main sample builds slowly with a tunnel reverb that bleeds out behind the drums and melodies while vinyl grooves and noise move in and out of the left and right channels of the stereo field. While the layering and sounds present interesting sonic palettes, it comes as no surprise from a DJ known to play with the likes of Baltra and Mall Grab.
 
All the while the main vocal sample slides in and around the other elements of the track. As is tradition within lo-fi house tracks the sample manages to evoke both somber and uplifting emotions all at once. It matches the brooding feel of the bassline while also reaching the heights of the main refrain. With subtle reverb giving it the sense of desperation and tension it cuts through the mix and compliments the songs main melodic presence. As he teases another drop at the end of the track you’re unsure of whether the person talking to themselves in the bathroom mirror made it out to conquer their adversity.

When it comes to producing dance-floor ready edits, few are doing it better than Tilman and Johannes Albert. Having started the label Fine together back in 2016, these German-based lads have used their imprint to share their takes on some of disco's greatest tunes from the past. In their upcoming release titled The Weekender, the two have decided to join forces once again by coming out with a 4-track EP that will have DJs around the world chomping at the bit to rinse them out in their sets.

The lead track from the EP is called "Beach Reach," and was produced by Mr. Albert. Fans of the British funk band Delegation will instantly recognize this song as an edit of their original "Stand Up Reach For The Sky." Johannes is quite respectful in his rendition of the tune, leaving a lot of its key elements intact. Instead, Johannes chooses to up the intensity by using expertly selected guitar riffs and percussion to create looped melodies which transform the song into an unadulterated groove!

Marcel Vogel’s Amsterdam based label Lumberjacks in Hell arises once again with something raw, soulful, and extremely fresh for your listening pleasure. This time, they’ve tapped the deeply prolific Bristol-based house connoisseur Andy Compton, who’s had a long and venerable career both as a soloist and part of the legendary trio of The Rurals, and who’s also released more than 31 albums and over 135 EPs. This project sees Andy join forces with the African artist Shamrock and the Swahili vocalist Asali for four sun-drenched boogie tracks that they recorded in South Africa.

“Nifanyeje,” the projects stand-out track is a slow groover with one hell of a bassline. Adding to the “smoothness” is what seems to be a suite of live instrumentation including organic percussion, gentle guitar, funky brass, light key stabs, and a gorgeous, airy vocal. A track like this demands you to chill. Don’t listen to this in the morning, you won’t get anything done for the rest of the day. If I didn’t have a job to do I’d roll a joint and listen to it 100 times. Anyways, just added this burner to my “Rosé Season” playlist on Spotify. Hand me my slips, fam.

Bunny Chow, the 31st EP from Lumberjacks in Hell, couldn’t be a better release. It drops on May 7th, and will likely soundtrack your summer. On May 7th, support the musicians who appear on this record by shelling out some cash for the wax. You won’t be sorry, and you might get laid if you play it.

While we’re less sure about who/what Momios is and why they/it should be fought, the acid and jazz parts of our premiere are self-evident. Fighting Momios With Acid And Jazz is the B1 cut from the upcoming second release of Leicester label, Flat White. Bogota’s Felipe Gordon is the artist behind the record that encompasses a lot of what we like at Bolting Bits: flavours of house, disco, techno and interesting blends of samples and original instrumentation.

The "Deep Fried Banana" EP is a five-tracker featuring a remix from The Last Trip To Gandahar, whose work we’ve premiered before. There isn’t a track we wouldn’t buy on this record, but our premiere is the stand out for us. While the percussive elements cut in and out, dusty-sounding jazz piano samples and a looped acid synth-line staple this track almost all the way through. It’s one of those pieces of music that feel like every part is completely intentional – even the rough bits are supposed to be rough. Felipe Gordon has built an impressive resume for himself recently, with releases on London’s Quintessentials and Berlin’s Toy Tonics, and we’re happy we can play a part in getting the word out on this guy, because his future looks bright. LA-based music company, Godmode, is known for taking way-left artists and bringing them slightly more to the center.  After breaking Shamir and Yaeji, the label is back with their latest signing, Channel Tres. Channel grew up in the Compton neighborhood of Los Angeles, and his music is a clear representation of the surly attitude of West Coast rap reimagined with the stylings of Detroit house. Fans of Galcher Lustwerk would be wise to check out this project. Similar to the NYC legend, Channel’s voice is effortlessly deep, expertly processed, and a perfect compliment to his deep, sultry instrumentals.

“Top Down” oozes swagger. While a Paranoid London-esque acid bassline rips through ethereal pads, Channel croons, “bet you ain't never heard shit like this from the block before.” He’s not completely wrong. While he’s not the first to champion a sound like this, he certainly has few modern peers. Aside from how dope the song is, I really appreciate the emphasis he places on individuality as an artist. He says, “never let the scene choose you. Never met a man this cool.” For me, it’s essential for a musician to be original, to believe in the uniqueness of their music, and to not conform to the standards set by a saturated scene. Going forward, I hope Channel sticks to his words. It’s not everyday you hear a debut this polished and full of a variety of influences. I’ll be waiting to hear these tunes at my NYC after-hours, but until then, I’m about to cut the top off my Saturn and slow-ride through Brooklyn. Here’s your invite.

Ben Gomori, label head of Monologues Records and Stern Edits, might be one of the busiest men in the industry today. When he's not providing us with the freshest dance music through his two labels, Ben can be seen spending his "leisurely" time hosting podcasts, radio shows, and video series like Turned On, Monologues and RecordReplay. If that wasn't enough, Ben puts on club night fundraisers for Help Refugees and the highly esteemed album listening sessions Pitchblack Playback. We honestly do not know where the man finds the time, but he does.

Given his absurd work rate, we were not surprised to learn back in July that Ben Gomori also produces under the previously anonymous moniker G. Markus. Mr. Gomori's reasoning for starting the project was "[...] to make deeper, freakier, trackier stuff than I was known for under my own name. It was a breath of fresh air starting from a blank canvas and sending music to labels anonymously with no preconceptions, having no social media and so on."

Whether he's releasing music under his own name or G. Markus, one can argue that Ben has a knack for making edits that rivals any of his contemporaries today. And this unique skill is on full display throughout his latest track titled "Red E," in which he takes on an 80's classic. Using the infectious vocal sample as a centerpiece, Ben chooses to pair it with an equally catchy assortment of lively piano house melodies and cheeky synths that are reminiscent of greats like Kerri Chandler.

A surefire way to start any party, DJs and producers alike would be negligent by not adding this chune to their collection. "Red E" along with "Cum Thru" are out today! Get your copy now!

Salin Records welcome Tour-Maubourg to the label, a match they dreamed of since hearing his first EP on his home label “Pont Neuf” back in 2017.

Paris-based producer and DJ Tour-Maubourg is an outstanding talent in creating emotions. It is probably exactly that what makes him one of the most promising artists of the Parisian house scene according to Trax Magazine. Through the last year, he was very keen on building up a studio in Paris. His enthusiasm for studio gear leads to a new level of production skills. “Interlude” and “Duophonie (Jazz Mix)” are two perfect examples for the symbiosis of sampling, synthesis and sound design. These two tracks fascinated us with their richness of detail and liveliness, and so we decided to build a whole EP around these beautiful tracks. 

Christophe Salin makes his remix debut with his reinterpretation of “Interlude”. After the release of his “You Took My Love EP” in spring 2019 he took the time to rebuild his studio and work on new ways to create sounds and textures. Remixing for one of his most appreciated artists of the current house scene is, without a doubt, the perfect time to release the sound he was working on during the last months.

Daria Salin’s painting speaks louder than any word and reflects the structures and details of Tour-Maubourg’s music.
