Following releases on Tofistock, Antinote and Warning, Berlin’s Lily Haz lands on the Flippen with a furious five tracker called Lava Steps EP.

Drawing from the full spectrum of what contemporary electronic music has to offer, on Lava Steps EP, she dreams up a kaleidoscopic world of breakbeats, dubstep wobbles, auto tune aesthetics, dembow rhythms, half time steppers and and dub delays.

While certainly compatible with club rooms, these tracks are characterized not only by great production but also a sense for songwriting that goes beyond pure club tools.

For his first EP, What I Need, Blanc Soleil delivers a personal and already very assertive vision of his sound identity. Composed in Brest, the project draws on his recent emotions and the energy of the UK clubs that have left their mark on him. The four tracks explore broken techno with jungle accents, where percussive textures intersect with melodic pads and dance sounds. Between raw energy and attention to detail, Blanc Soleil lays the foundations for a hybrid and expressive signature, somewhere between rave intensity and club emotion.The project is also revisited through three distinct remixes, each bringing a different state of mind: a UKG-infused version by the Australian producer Wax Thief, a high-energy closing banger signed by Noge, and a more electro-driven interpretation from J.Strongrock.

“I wanted to make a techno/break track sound like a jungle track, with strong percussion punctuating the beat over a very UK bassline. Chords reminiscent of PS2 games and a fairly serious but above all very hype overall atmosphere. To sum up, I tried to create a UK track in my own way. The track that inspired me was very different, though (Love by Luke Slater).”

Adult Hits makes dance music that sweats, mutates, and smiles back at you. A co-founder of Sensory Signal and a fixture in the Los Angeles underground, he builds worlds from percussion — grooves that start as a pulse and end as possession. His sound leans toward the playful and the psychedelic: prog swung through breaks, acid melted into color, humor folded into hypnosis. There’s always a wink in the chaos, a kind of sly confidence that comes from knowing exactly how the room will move.

Attitude Drums EP packs a sassy, proggy punch - square in the chest.  Euphoric wobbles and wibbly ear~candy collide with psy~esque licks and naughty breaks.  No rest for the wicked, Adult Hits flirts across the EP with raw personality; his locked-in percussion, trippy pads and nasty vocal chops carry the floor effortlessly. 

Etari refracts “The Field” through her dream logic — soft edges, deep pulse, and the kind of drums that feel both organic and otherworldly. It’s humid, emotional, and alive — an echo of L.A. nights when everything blurs just right.

For the second release on JoyLift, EM + STAV expand the scope of their UK techno explorations via a brooding collaboration with essential Bristol-based maverick Grove. Committing anti-anthemtic vocal crossovers to tape while diving deeper into the steely construction of their leftfield club sound, 2 Palms continues the mission the pair set out on back in late 2023 with Endless, the first transmission on their label.

Cast in shades of misty melancholy, 2 Palms is an expressive, open-ended swoop of emotive electronica. Grove responds to the mood in kind, pressing pause on their celebrated, acerbic MC flow to exercise the breadth of their lesser-spotted, no-less-arresting singing. Framed by pockmarks of digital percussion, Grove strikes a bittersweet note that glides between sorrowful introspection and steadfast spirituality. It's a powerful expansion on the sound world EM + STAV are shaping out with each successive release, as well as an exciting new direction for Grove.

Shooting a barbed slice of breakbeat energy through the pensive core of the original, Bristol techno heavyweight Hodge steps up with a club-focused version of 2 Palms. His signature line in angular, incisive drums respectfully casts a razor-sharp framework around the beating heart of the track. That sets the tone for EM + STAV's two other productions on this EP, 'Signal Glint' and 'Dub Wire'. Dealing in crooked rhythms, metallic textures and a heads-down swagger true to the UK soundsystem tradition, both tracks perfectly exercise the duo's lifelong commitment to the dance while upholding their instinct for restless modernism.

2 Palms comes clothed in a design from Guillaume de Ubéda, a Bristol-based illustrator and graphic designer whose vivid, richly detailed style explores the divide between organic and digital. That concept extends to the EP's physical format, as the starkly contemporary sound gets presented as a collectable tape pack alongside the digital release. With accompanying videos for the original and remix of 2 Palms, EM + STAV have pulled together a multimedia project that shows off the full spectrum of their vision for JoyLift, an ever-evolving platform leaving a singular impression in the modern leftfield club scene.

Locked / Ghost Dub keeps things direct. Both tracks are born from hardware, staying true to Kassian’s process while leaving aside any overarching concept. Instead, this is their most direct statement yet; functional, raw, and made for DJs. Locked is a bass-driven breakbeat track with a distinctly UK flavour, atmospheric, spacious and designed for a real soundsystem. Ghost Dub shifts into faster warehouse territory; a breaks cut that nods to 90’s rave while keeping the focus on immediacy and impact.

Alfresco Disco are Bristol’s number one party outfit. They are purveyors of the underground, never announcing the location or lineup of their events until the party. Each event is unique and is always held in a different space, never reusing the same venue twice, always with some of the most forward thinking decor and art ideas. Some previous examples of spaces used are a magistrates court, boxing gym, under a railway arch and many more. If you’re ever in Bristol and manage to catch one of these parties, trust us, you better attend.

The party outfit, which has been active for over a decade, also releases the occasional record. Although their discography thus far is sparse, it’s a testament to their search for quality artists. AD005 comes in the form of “Crash the Box” from Mang Dynasty, a duo formed by Ray Mang and Bill Brewster and it also includes two party starting remixes from Tee Mango and Lord Leopard.

Our premiere today is Tee Mango’s revision. Moving away from the original Afro-Disco excursion, a looped up, chuggy version presents itself instead. Squelchy stabs and an additional vocal on top of the bouncy bass makes this one perfect for the dancefloor. This cut is definitely going to be making the rounds at plenty of end of summer parties, with the original and Lord Leopard remix being equally as strong. As always we highly recommend grabbing your copy early.
