It is hard to sum up just how much of an impact Ralph Lawson has had over his 35 years career in the scene.From managing his 2020Vision label to holding down a wide range of residencies, his dedication to the craft is truly inspirational and this interview is a beautiful glimpse into his vision.The mix he delivered us is a very special journey. It’s no longer news to anyone that Australian electronic music propelled itself to international spotlight in recent years. There is an infinite array of up and coming talent emerging from down under. Amongst them are the dynamic duo of DJ Sarah and Georgia Bird, known as In2stellar, whose collaboration started in 2017. 

Their energetic sets influenced by 90s dance music, fusing gritty breaks, UK bass and proggy bass lines are a candid insight into their true selves that we are pleased to discover through this insightful conversation.

The French DJ and producer has been making her mark on the scene far beyond the City of Lights. After dropping two EP’s on @DJDeepParis’s @Deeply_Rooted imprint the Deep House don @Kerri-Chandler stepped in to remix one of her tracks. Unfazed by this stellar endorsement Marina Trench backed it up with dazzling DJ sets at leading clubs and festivals across Europe, followed by an EP on the much-respected house label Wolf Music (@NYsoul).

The avid vinyl collector pulled a rainbow of feel-good house tunes out of her record bag for this podcast. Embrace Marina Trench’s raw flowing rhythms, from sensual piano house with soul-drenched vocals all the way to stomping peak-time funk with deep dance floor scorching basslines.

Brother Nebula first burst onto the scene in 2018 with his debut release on Legwork titled A Brief History Of Lasers. At the time, there wasn’t much information regarding the identity of the unknown producer except for a collaboration with San Francisco-based maestro Solar earlier that year. The only thing fans had to judge him by were his tracks and clear penchants for crafting atmospheric breakbeat tunes. The mystery surrounding the artist was almost inspiring – especially during a time when musicians are expected to share more of themselves than ever.

Brother Nebula would continue putting out records under this curious cloud of secrecy – later joining forces with the likes of Nick Höppner’s Touch From A Distance for his Going Clear EP. However, near the end of 2020, as Brother Nebula was set to share his full-length album The Physical World, rumors started to circulate on who the musician might be…

Although it might not come a surprise to some,  the man behind all the haze is veteran producer and mix engineer Lance Descardi! In this special edition of MIXED BY, Mr. Descardi puts together a selection of some of his major influences while sharing details about his unlikely journey in the music industry – a journey that transformed a budding DJ from Dallas into a guy Defected Records run to when they need to finish a track. For all you aspiring producers out there, this is one you’ll want to read from start to finish!
