Hailing from Toronto, but spending lots of their of time in Johannesburg where the record label has taken its deep rooted musical influence, La Casa Tropical crew are on a mission to release and reissue the feel good party gems that they have discovered on their African adventure. 

No wonder then, that our past guest REES opened his Bside account with this sunny song from their 2018 reissue of Bayete’s Blue Monday, just a little taste of the amazing music they have discovered in South Africa :

Hysteric is an Australian DJ and producer attuned to digging for the crème de la crème of 80’s influenced dance music – Italo-disco, Eurobeat and house to move the modern dancefloor. His cherry-picked selections and savory edits (some garnering quite the buzz on Discogs) have graced audiences at the renowned Melbourne club Revolver Upstairs where he is a resident DJ, as well as European clubbing hotspots such as London and Berlin. Hysteric is also the man behind the wheel of Mothball Rec., a label with a colorful catalogue ranging from Italo-disco to new wave.We are pleasured to feature Hysteric on the MIXED BY series and interview him to find out a little bit more about the driving force behind the Melbourne dance scene, and his love for music.

El año pasado tuvimos el placer de conocer y pinchar junto a Augusto hasta pasada la madrugada en uno de los encuentros latinoamericanos propuestos por Selvagem. 

Trepanado es uno de los fundadores y quien dirige ahora Selvagem, como también Selva discos, sello encargado de re editar joyas de la música brasilera.

Sin dudas Augusto es uno de los djs referentes de la escena, con una gran habilidad para descubrir discos y una técnica exquisita. A mitad del 2019, lanzo el compilado Street Soul Brasil (1987-1995),vía el sello Hello Sailor de U.S.A.

Este mix, nombrado por él como “Molhado de Delay” ya que fue grabado con el pedal de FX prendido durante la sesión, comienza con sonidos ideales para entrar en ambiente y terminar bailando.

Ladies and gents, dancers and DJs, artistes and amigos... it's with great pleasure that we formally launch episode #1 of our the Desert Island Disco 'Islander Cast' podcast series. The 'Islander Cast' series seemed the most natural way for us to extend our passion for discovering and sharing amazing music from talented DJs, musicians and producers who share our love of era-spanning, genre-hopping boogie music. 

The first mix in the series is brought to you by exciting French DJ, Souldade, who we believe perfectly captures the essence of our sound.

Souldade navigates across eras & genres to unearth overlooked tunes. His mixes and edits take you to forgotten dream places, from sunbathed exotic poolsides to moist outmoded clubs. Travelling back and forth between Europe, Africa, Brazil, American cities and other Caribbean islands, the motto remains unchanged: move you and make you move.

Following an intense, careless summer, this mix was for Souldade the perfect medium to enter the gloomier season that was ahead of every single one of us. Slowly switching from warm, bitter-sweet lovers rock songs to colder italo sounds, Souldade builds this typical outdated atmosphere he loves so much, and paves the way to more club-oriented tracks including an unreleased edit in the finale!
