Underground, it was much the same bar the lack of light. This was by choice and not an accident. Nobody liked to dance in the eye of others judgement, hence the shadows were best for such fun. As the room begin to fill it was remarkable to watch the people shed their clothes, layer by layer they became more free. The sweat dripped from above.

If you consider yourself “in the know” on all things house and disco, then you’re no stranger to @PontyMython , the rising Lithuanian talent who’s released incredible projects on various imprints including Dirt Crew Recordings, Fina Records, and Better Listen Records. This time around, he’s produced The Black Magic EP, a brilliant afrocentric project, and debut EP for new London based label, @BurninMusic. Compared to the rest of his catalogue, this EP is much weirder; dark and mysterious, the project sounds like something you’d listen to while slinking around an African marketplace on a rainy day. In it’s entirety, the project showcases Ponty’s wide range of musical influences, advanced sampling abilities, and his knack for creating a cohesive, non-homogenous body of work.

The final track, "Hidden Object", is the perfect finisher to a unique outing, and begins with a deep, downtempo groove laden with african chanting, dull horns, hand drums, and bells. The track sets an instant mood and is fully transportive, a journey from headphones to Africa. A simple bassline resounds underneath swirling, trippy synths, building towards a quick and beautiful vocal section that is the absolute high point of a track that eventually breaks down into it’s original, sultry groove.

Ponty Mython’s Black Magic EP is set for release on April 28th and we expect it to fly off the shelves...don’t sleep, kids.

The nervous inn was not a place frequented by most, thankfully many would never find themselves in a place like this for they were of sounder mind. The tension between each room could be cut with a knife and there was little conversation between residents.

‘Good Times’, a low-slung underground disco number that really speaks to the hips as its lazy, sun-drenched vibes echo through the ether. Anchored by a sinuously tropical guitar bassline, soaring FX and scintillating claps, this number really highlights the warm groove-led aesthetic that’s central to the whole Jac The Disco sound.
