On the occasion of the vinyl rerelease of 1+3+1 (Triosk meets Jan Jelinek, faitback05), Jan Jelinek's ICE Compositions are being made available digitally for the first time. ICE Compositions was released back in 2002 as a strictly limited vinyl EP on the En/Of label as part of a collaboration with the US artist Sarah Morris. The tracks are named after the different trains aboard which they were composed on a laptop while traveling.  

All of the tracks on the EP were interpreted by the Australian band Triosk and later re-edited/arranged by Jelinek. These versions/variations can be found on the album 1+3+1.

Zaubertanz

Hanagasumi - hazy curtain of flowers, cherry blossoms appearing from afar like a white mist - this phenomenon can be seen during the sakura blossom in Japan.

The third release on the label from the musician Shine Grooves. This vinyl is a mini LP of five tracks with different moods. The release is opening with a melodic track with exciting keyboard chords, performed in the best traditions of electro rhythm. On the second track, the mood changes towards a glitch house with a 4x4 beat and a naive melody that penetrates deeply into the mind. The first side of the vinyl is closing with a techno track - a loop recorded on a Roland TR-606 drum machine with an atmospheric melody that flutters in the air throughout the entire composition. The second side of the vinyl starts with a 10-minute ambient ode, with cosmic synthesizer sequences and fragments of phrases from telephone conversations - a slow entrance to another reality. The last track on the record has an experimental IDM flavor with melodic guitar tones.

Big Science Records presents Leo James’ latest release Féth Fíada, a distillation of the musical ideas James has been developing in his recent work. A collection of hypnotic repetitions, held saxophone notes, synthesiser drones and beautiful chords, the record is full of life and rich in texture. The music is an exploration of disconnection, longing and catharsis, and is both deeply personal and wide open to the listener - emotion hidden in plain sight.  

In recent years James has released records with Patience, Berceuse Heroique, Neubau and his own imprint Body Language. In 2020 he was asked to remix a song from the collaborative project of Ariel Kalma and Gilbert Cohen, released on Versatile Records. In July 2021, James collaborated with renowned Aboriginal artist Daniel Boyd for his solo exhibition 'Treasure Island' at Kukje Gallery, Seoul. Boyd created a 6 minute video work that was projected alongside his paintings. Titled Rivers, the projection was soundtracked by Leo James' track of the same name.

The record will be out on end of November 29t 2021. Limited Edition 100x 12 inches records, distributed by Rubadub, and available as digital on Spotify, iTunes and Deezer soon.

Out February 10. Tresa Leigh is the reflection of St. Simons Island, Georgia teenager Teresa Laxamana (né Leggett). 
 
Wooed by a classifieds listing to audition for Philly funk and soul imprint Lyndell Records, the aspiring 15 year old dragged her father, guitar, fender amplifier and microphone to perform her convincingly mature folk tales of first time heartbreak. Winning the support of label owner Walter L Rayfield, the fresh recruit cut two originals in a makeshift motel studio on the neighbouring Jekyll Island, backed by a band of unhurried session players. The 1970 recording yielded her debut 45, pairing 'I Remember's endearing juvenile jangle with the heartsick Ghost Riders cornerstone 'Until Then'. 
 
After a car accident prevented Mr. Rayfield from fulfilling his release plans, an unswayed Tresa responded to Great World Of Sound’s newspaper advert, baiting the prospect of gold records, major label connections and sales of a million copies. With family and friends crowdfunding the $1,200 that the company required to produce a follow-up 7”, she jetted to Nashville, recording a slicker, emotionally elevated update on 'Until Then', and the symphonic slow dancer 'I Miss You'. In another unfortunate career misfire, the dubious label failed to deliver on any of their promises, with the artist volunteering the only surviving copy for restoration.
 
Collating all four recordings, this brief 7"/digital anthology immortalises the innocent small town dreams of a genuine original, inadvertently echoing the likes of Nora Guthrie, Bonnie Dobson and Patti Whipp.

Visions

What is the sound of the end? How does one acoustically convey that something is over? Computers have had a shutdown sound; movies play a melody while rolling credits and even the end of human life has a sound attached to it, courtesy of Chopin. Heatherbrae, an excellent track from Thomas Gray & Liam Ebbs feels like it's a sountrack to an end of some sort. Its deliberate and sparse pacing of someone who's no longer rushing, its "I-am-at-peace" synth chords as well as casual and relaxed drumming all seem to say: "It has been a lovely experience; I laughed and i cried, I've learned and I've grown but now it's over”.

O.S.S. (Open Sound System) is a new collaborative project from music producers @unknown-mobile and @napmusick  
A product of friendship, O.S.S. was made by Daniel Rincon and Levi Bruce over a course of impromptu studio sessions and hangouts between Canadian coasts. O.S.S. The EP features five suites, which aim to invoke “god rays,” - the rays of sunlight that are amplified by the passing of clouds at dusk. Luminous, deep and subtle tones mimic crepuscular light in a way that feels cinematic and spiritual. We’re happy to premiere the second suite on the EP, "Blanga," a meandering sweet tune, featuring a collage of samples, synths, Romplers and VSTs.

Oz Echoes peels away another layer of Australia’s ‘80s DIY hive mind. The Oz Waves successor exposes a deeper circuit of micro-run cassettes, community radio archives and irrationally abandoned studio sessions, as Steele Bonus sequences a 10-track compendium of drone pop, psyche-electronics and agitated tape cut-ups.

From the Sydney cassette network, The Horse He's Sick returns with an industrial car crash, alongside Wrong Kind of Stone Age’s pagan cacophony and primal riddims. M Squared dynamo Patrick Gibson appears in both Height/Dismay and Mr Knott, his respective studio-as-an-instrument collaborations with Dru Jones (Scattered Order) and ex-Slugfucker Gordon Renouf - the former’s worn out apparition hails from an instantly deleted 1981 7”, while Mr Knott entrust one of the compilation’s five previously unreleased tracks.

Matt Mawson represents Brisbane music media-printed matter collective ZIP, as Adelaide’s Three D Radio grants access to their vaults of live-to-air recordings and aspiring demo submissions, rescuing the slap-happy punk-funk of The Frenzied Bricks and Jandy Rainbow’s prodigious beginnings in Les Trois Etrangers and Aeroplane Footsteps. Synchronously in Melbourne, Ash Wednesday (Karen Marks, The Metronomes) leads Modern Jazz’ improvised proto-techno and EBM pioneers Shanghai Au Go-Go home record their sardonic synth-wave.

A cherry-picked cast of unusual suspects, Oz Echoes’ unfamed artist and non-band narratives are detailed by track-by-track liner notes with rarely published archival visions and artwork from Video Synth, prompting further rabbit hole ventures into this golden era of creative risk-taking and instant action.

Australia’s Analogue Attic returns mid-March with the debut album from Alex Albrecht. The ten-track project is entitled ‘Campfire Stories’ and features collaborations with label/production partner Sean La’Brooy, Allysha Joy (30/70), Thomas Gray and more.Here Albrecht delivers his debut solo album which we’re told ‘’explores dreams, the unconscious and the intertwining of feelings and memory. Interspersed field recordings lend to the fragmented way people recall experiences. It is a narrative in which the listener is encouraged to attach their own thoughts and impressions to the soundscapes.

’’Since 2014, Alex Albrecht and Sean La’Brooy, better known to most as Albrecht La’Brooy, have released an array of material on Apollo Records, Scissor & Thread, their own Analogue Attic Recordings and more, always leaning towards the deep, hypnotic and emotive side of House, Techno and Ambient. The project was designed as a gapless album, intended to be listened from start to finish and welcomes a number of collaborations throughout with the likes of 30/70's Allysha Joy and Ziggy Zeitgeist (ZFEX), Thomas Gray, Carla Oliver (Badskin) as well as long-time musical partner and co-label head, Sean La'Brooy.
