@moffandtarkin is back on Lagaffe Tales with a record that marks the 9th release in the Lagaffe series. The Austrian based Icelander provides two originals as well as a remix from label friend @uffeisaband.

The record starts off with Tension a break inspired banger with that special Moff & Tarkin twist. If you spot the sample let us know and you might win a coupon.

The second track "Socks By The Sofa" feels like something that would work wonders at your local bowling arena or even shopping mall, some piano samples and vocals, you know the drill.

The b side is dedicated to a massive Uffe remix, I tell you man, we had to write him back like 5 times and ask him to reduce that bass. Uffe takes Tension and turns it into a jungle journey a la Indiana Jones.

Nomada Records has shown several times that they have a good sense for fresh talents. This time the label spotted the sample-based producer Martin Georgi (quietelegance, OYE Black, Seismographic Records).

He has already popped up in the deep house scene a few years ago, as Delfonic kissed the artist from his slumber by releasing tracks of him which originally were produced on vinyl back in 2008. So, no wonder that on the flipside of the new release, a contribution by Delfonic can be found. It is a live session, originally penned by Georgi and pursuing the idea of bizarre mash-up. In addition, on the B-side you will find another interesting name which can be interpreted as an “alias” of Martin Georgi himself. The A-side acts as an EP called “Motor City Damage Ep”. Here, Georgi was inspired by the rising civic movement from Detroit. While the car industry had abandoned D-Town, they left behind not only a high unemployment rate, but also unused industrial wasteland. Some of those very large areas are used now by a citizens’ initiative for vegetable gardens, bringing in a benefit for the citizens involved. Georgi was so fascinated by this initiative that he sampled and connected interview excerpts from the project, in strong contrast to interview snippets from different documentaries, which focuse on Detroit's suffering from poverty and unemployment. This is how the track “Green Motor Damage” was created. As a musical reinforcement keyboardist and synth lover George John (Kommerz, Gettogether, BlaqNumbers) got to the keys, giving the track a soulful funky touch. Another track on the EP’s A-Side is called “Summer Kisses”, which “romanticizes” the dystopian aura of the city Detroit with idiosyncratic monotony. Here Georgi adapted the idea of film director Jim Jarmusch who pursued a similar project in his film “Only Lovers Left Alive”.The third track is called “Waiting for a call” with a slight wink for the dance floor, but also an ironic statement on the exploitation of employees by outsourcing jobs to call center companies.

Été infini #15 - Gare du Nord invite SOURIRES

Chicago’s Anthony Nicholson has a storied history in dance music. For decades he has been crafting some of the best house music around on labels such as his own Circular Motion and Infinite Audio, as well as on legendary imprints Prescription and Clairaudience, adopting a host of aliases along the way. Now landing on Brooklyn staple toucan sounds for his latest release, the DJ/producer links up with Brandon Markell Holmes for ‘Found’ this July. Leading the release, the original mix of title track ‘Found’ sees Nicholson’s lush production peppered with Markell Holmes’ emotive singing, making for a dreamy vocal house cut. Stripping away the vocals, the ‘Adlibstrumental Pass’ sees the instrumental elements take front and centre for a welcome addition to the package. A release party around the release will take place at Elsewhere, NYC, on 29th July 2022. Anthony Nicholson ‘Found’ drops on toucan sounds on 22nd July 2022 as a Traxsource Exclusive, followed by a worldwide release on 5th August 2022.

Multi-dimensional future-jazz outfit JK GROUP release a new EP, Rising on La Sape Records. The brainchild of award-winning saxophonist, Joshua Kelly (30/70 collective, PBS Young Elder of Jazz 2019), the band returns to the label with a follow up EP to the mind-bending 2021 release, What’s Real? 

Where What’s Real? served as a platform for wild experimentation, Rising returns to a more considered and familiar format for the band, offering up 4 cohesive tracks that are deep in conception and expression, at once original and fresh. Conceived after recording an as yet unreleased body of work written whilst undergoing chemotherapy, Rising celebrates bandleader Josh’s survival and eventual recovery from the intense treatment he received for lymphoma in 2020. 

The band stays true to their honed format of jazz traditions melding with influences from electronica and beyond. Like the first release, The Young Ones, Rising sits comfortably in the crossover of raw, live jazz and electronic dance music,  whilst also throwing an unexpected curveball to the listener expanding the palate of the bands sound to a pigment never before heard in their music. The EP takes you on an emotional journey throughout the four tracks, best listened to start-to-finish.

You knew when you were home; as in really home. It wasn't just the familiar faces sitting on street corners or the comforting sound of the locals selling their goods at the morning market, it was in everything, no matter how big or small. The way the ground crunched underfoot; the smell of the dust kicked up by a thousand feet that clogged up your lungs; the erratic ringing of the small shop as people entered and left in a hurry: he'd missed it all - the good and the bad - perhaps more than he'd realised.

The next release on Cairo's Rakete comes courtesy of a trailblazer in the Egyptian electronic music scene. Under his previous guise Hadayek 303, Molotof was the first Egyptian producer to fuse mahraganat sounds and percussion with shades of acid house and trap music; a musical fusion that was termed 'Molowave' and saw him collaborate with artists like Wegz, Marwan Pablo, Sadat and Fifty. Gabal Ahmar is perhaps his most refined body of work and marks a 'coming of age' moment for the producer. Saturated in his signature mahraganat-influenced synth lines and 808 drum programming, the release cements his reputation as a pioneering voice in Egyptian electronic music.

This EP consists of several formidable female artists, hand-picked by Allysha as an extension of the Torn : Tonic message, to empower and share the stories of women and non binary peoples through song. Shy One kicks off the set, fresh from her recent Eglo Records EP, and kicks ’Still Dreaming’ (also featuring Rara Zulu on vocals) up to 130BPM, for a jackin’ heads down affair, complete with an unapologetic kick, crispy hats, chopped rhodes, rolling bass and subtle acid tweaks. Risa T from the CoOp Presents crew is up next with her rub of the Ego Ella May collab ‘Calling You’. This one staying truer to the original track, switching the rhythm to a 4/4 bounce and picking up the tempo — slightly deeper, dubbier affair for the dancers. UK Soulstress Emmavie takes on the album track ‘Fatima’ which also features the vocals of Belle Bangard. The most downtempo of the set, though the double-time hats and growling b-line keep the energy high, with sliced guitar cuts and additional backing vox from Emmavie herself. It’s a seriously smooth concoction. Finally, Glasgow’s Rebecca Vasmant provides her flip of the album’s lead single ‘Let It!’, adding some warm sub-bass and delicate harps. This unique mix brings space to the original sax and harmonics, while the drums run alongside this expansive skippy pulse.

Five talented Norwegian house producers pull out all the stops on the first Mhost Likely Green V/A EP series, ‘Natural High’, with most venturing into house territory to showcase a different shade of their sonic palette. The four-track EP features familiar faces from previous releases, with some featuring artists new to the label.

Kicking things off with his debut on MHL is Hajem (BCR) with his super slick, funky, sexy deep house track called ‘Lost and Found'. A track prepped with vocal licks, bubbly textures, crisp drum patterns, and irresistible instrumental work. Next, is Keecen, who, following his second EP on MHL - ‘Midnight City Joints’, gives a snapshot of his harder house sounds. Steady beats and snarling bass lines for sweaty clubs. The third track is also a debut on MHL and comes from Struve. A deep house tune with funk-inspired bass stabs injecting playfulness into club materials oozing vibes. Finally, it’s up to the new duo Kim Young iLL and Third Attempt to close proceedings. ‘Save Me’ is an assertive downtempo house-inspired track with an acid melody and cosmic soundscape.

Welcome to an aquatic exploration of sound. This new series of EPs invites you to a sonic immersion of different aquatic environments of the world through dub and deep techno as well as break.

For this first release, Boskøw, Martinou, Upwellings and Artos Eleven take us on a poetic and modern adventure of the Mediterranean.

Boskøw starts us off in Samena, a neighbourhood in the Calanque park of Marseille. A precious moment of introspection in the early morning, listening to the waves and voices of the Phocean city.

Leaving the rocky coast of Marseille, Reef Surveyor by Upwelling takes you on a boat ride to watch over the local marine ecosystem. Its faster rhythm conveys the challenge this entails with the increasing impact of climate change.

After a long day out at sea, Martinou’s Anemone sways smoothly with the sea current, interjected by small skanks shining through like rays of light at sunset. However, don’t be fooled - Martinou’s deep layers will slowly take over and entrance you.

Artos Eleven's Baliste evokes a nocturnal excursion between sand and rock. Named after the Mediterranean Triggerfish, its broken rhythms and deep water skanks will bite, leaving you wanting more.

FuFu Records is thrilled to announce the release of a new EP on December 8th 2022.

For this special occasion, we worked with the talented and prolific producer Saint Guel from Philippines.

Miguel Santiago aka Saint Guel basks in dance music — his being distinctly warm and clean-cut. The Filipino DJ/producer started behind the decks at 15 and tinkered with personal production 2 years after. Since then, he’s carefully carving his corner: an altogether irresistibly groovy one. Perhaps it’s him soaking up the Manila nightlife, his frequent pilgrimage across international festivals or his inherent taste and thirst for warbling world. Whatever it is, it’s looking like everyone is here for it.
He was part of the FuFu Records Compilation: 88 – Double Happiness Vol.2 and Vol.7 released in October 2022 with a special teaser track: Going On which will be got new versions in the coming EP.

With a big excitement after our 2 collaborations, we have been discussing deeply about the release of an EP full of different energies from his trip in Europe and particularly in Berlin
You can expect a journey from Vocal Deep House/trippy-dubby version of his original tracks.
