Re:Conceive 2 is a fundraising compilation of cutting-edge electronic music from artists based in, and orbiting around Montréal. It will activate its broad stylistic range into social action by donating all net profits to The Native Women’s Shelter of Montréal and Just Solutions, a pro bono refugee legal clinic. Contributing artists range from world-renowned to best-kept secrets. Opening with an orchestral bang, a long and hot fire of tracks 2–17 then burns out into the steam of tracks 18–23, before being capped by a chapter of amorphous and watery sound baths. The dance floor is almost always present: at times practically; at times abstracted and imagined; at other times very, very far away. The through line of the album is that of Montréal, where we lay our scene. It is the sound of this time, in this place. 
We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

Re:Conceive is a music and social initiative which releases compilation albums. The goals are twofold: to present high calibre electronic music from Montréal, and use the proceeds of its sale to support vital social initiatives. Curated more along zonal lines than aesthetic ones, each edition attempts to highlight a selection of the city’s movers and shakers in electronic music. The first edition raised over $1,300 and received support from Resident Advisor, Bandcamp editorial, Mes enceintes font défaut, Music Is My Sanctuary, Exclaim! and Also Cool Mag.

Monologues boss Ben Gomori's edits of African classics for Sterns Edits and Africa Seven have won fans far and wide, with DJs from Optimo to Hunee, Folamour, Horse Meat Disco and TSHA getting behind them. He continues this acclaimed body of work with this new release, carving up two gems and adding a little juice to them in the process. First up, a joyous slice of 1980s Camerooon from Emmanuel Kahe Et Jeanette Kemogne on 'Ye Medjuie', where rousing trumpet refrains meet undulating bass funk. Then the deep dubby skank of Nigeria's Akaba Man & The African Pride's 'Popular Side' goes on a Metro Area-flavoured excursion with distorted Melodica blasts rubbing up against a sweet-but-trippy synth solo and haunting vox synths.

Cherished London rave enchantresses LUXE & Angel D'lite reveal their first ever joint EP release ‘Enchanted’ on transcendental record label GODDEZZ. The long-time bezzies conjure up two luxurious dance productions 'Cloud 69' & 'Dance Enchantress'; complimented by reciprocal remixes of each other's tracks as well as a full party bag of remixes from close friends Baraka, FAFF, Local Group and Mabel.

This radiant and multi-layered EP release offers an array of rave stylings that will bewitch and enchant the listener. Step Ball Chain & Nehza affiliate Mabel rounds out proceedings in style with a chunky and rolling prog re-imagining of 'Dance Enchantress'.

Over the past few years, Angel D’lite and LUXE have meticulously carved out their own distinct spaces within the scene. For our next release of 2024 Command D, the dynamic Australian artist residing on Gadigal land, returns to Pure Space with his next EP, "New Devices."

"New Devices" is a testament to resilience and innovation, instigated by the theft of his laptop and loss of production files in motion. The need to start the EP journey afresh led to a subsequent shift in his music production methods. As Command D explains, "The tracks came from the production of my first live set and are a representation of my workflow during this time. Most elements were made using a more hands-on/'live take' approach."

Opening the EP, "Swallow" captivates with its low slung bass and swirling percussion. Let the dubbed out synthesis warm you as you drift into the abyss, with the four to the floor beat keeping you grounded through the dance.

Next up is "Madman," a heady and energising cut that continues Command D’s exploration into deep dance grooves. The staunch synthesis keeps your head down until the dub chords lift you up. One fitting for sunrise or sunset, up to you really..

"CG Phrase" introduces more intensity released only as the swirling atmospheres lift. The track toys with tension as it pulls you deeper into the sonic vortex.

The EP culminates with "Heavy Clouds," a cathartic and heavenly composition that offers a moment of introspective rapture. Its ethereal melodies and soothing rhythms provide a serene contrast to the preceding tracks, closing the EP on a contemplative note.

Command D's exploration into new generation dub techno continues to evolve, with "New Devices" pushing the boundaries of his production ever-onwards. His style, characterised by sonically rich and murky tones and meticulous attention to detail, remains a hallmark of his work; an auditory journey that is both captivating and transformative. Bliss out.
