LONELY006 is a split EP with Eversines on the A side. A huge talent from Amsterdam with previous releases on Kalahari Oyster Cult and Nous'klaer. The B side is produced by Caim. It’s an exploration into the deepest realms of organic techno and stripped down house. But most notably, Caim is the love child of a musical bromance that started in 2016 – when Tommy Kornuijt and Mark Antoni first discovered their shared obsession for analogue gear and immersive grooves – and is now reaching maturity.Before joining forces, both Tommy and Mark had their fair share of musical successes. Tommy as co-founder and resident of Amsterdam’s (in)famous Breakfast Club parties, touring all across Europe with his distinctive take on minimalistic house and techno. And Mark as head honcho of the Amsterdam-based Mood parties and his vinyl imprint Lonely Planets Records. After their initial musical infatuation, they quickly decided to move into a new studio together, where the Caim adventure started. Three years down the line, their musical output is coming up to full speed. With the first release Flâneur on their Caim imprint perfectly setting the tone for their signature sound last year – an alloy of infectious drum patterns and mesmerizing synth moods – they are upping the ante with their sophomore release Rehab in April, and have Caim Records 003 in the pipeline for later this year. Recently, Mark and Tommy have started doing more and more of their notoriously deep and long (after hour) DJ sets. This has landed them residencies at both Breakfast Club and The Tribe. With gigs confirmed in places like Nijmegen’s Drift Festival, Berlin’s About Blank and even as far away as Tel Aviv, Caim is coming for you in 2019 – can’t say we didn’t warn you.

The 50th release on the Clone Royal Oak Series. A small milestone, and its longtime label friend and collaborator Antenna who has the right tunes for this release! 
He delivers a unique blend of house cuts EP that conjures up a very blissed out and heady feel. Digging deep in the roots of electronic dance music the tracks have a classic and familiar feel, reminiscent of the heydays of early 90's raves and chill outs where the darker and deeper sounds reigned. Antenna puts a fresh spin on those classic themes and firmly sets it in a 21st century place. 
Another beautiful release on the Clone sub label celebrating the musical diversity of all offsprings of the Royal Oak of house music.

Sydney’s Unpin gifts us a beautifully thought out genre bender of a remix. Chopped breaks and acid melodies slide over a drifting lounge piano and stabbing bassline, all while the groove is locked in by a driving 4/4 kick. The track is deliciously layered, each listen uncovers something new to fix your attention to.

Timing is a funny thing and Mr. Ho knows this all too well. His biggest record dropped mid-lockdown when clubland was closed to the general public, the producer thinking he had then heard the end of it. The truth was in fact far from it, the 'Eu-Li' EP (he produced with soulful Seoul producer Mogwaa) went on to be repressed another 4 times and seemed to soundtrack a vast majority of clubbers return to some sort of normality. As the world is still reeling and the pressing plants are feeling the pressure of increased demand timing is a once again a factor in the release of Mr. Ho's debut album 'Michaelsoft' and the record seems to soldier on regardless and all the better for it. A perfect and sophisticated summation of the talented producers skill at making sonically slick groove-led music, ranging wide in genres and moods. The album is a journey of sorts, kicking off with the dreamy breaks of '000Baby' and the slightly broken beats of the spine-tingling 'Ngomee' before venturing into hectic and threatening electro with 'Quit Startin' and ghetto-funk stylings of '14me'. After listening to 'Michaelsoft' the listener is reminded once again of the subject of time, specifically the time the producer has spent silently honing and calmly perfecting his craft whilst the rest of the world seems to descend into chaos.

WRECKS037 - Mr. Ho "Michaelsoft" LP

For the third release in Klasse Wrecks’ ELEGAL RECORDS sub-label, the clock is turned back to the early nineties and the destination is set for Toronto, Canada. Throughout their career the duo of Dominic Paterson and Todd Nickolas released a handful of EPs on their own ‘Floorshaker Productions’ and two albums, one of which on Cargo Records during the tim they were signed to the label. ADSR cultivated a rich and unique sound, one that ranged from piano induced euphoria to heads down serious breakbeat territory. ELEGAL3 is based around one track that originally was only available on the 1993 CD album ‘Accelerated Emotions’, ‘Haunted’ is a floorfiller comprising of piano stabs, choir vocals, depth charge basslines and acid energy. The record features the original track remastered for 2021 and two remixes, one from label boss Luca Lozano and a reinterpretation by original member Todd Nickolas. Also included is a never heard before DAT tape find of ‘Menace’, a grooving beast with a low slung bassline and a simple chord stab melody.

New! What, an adjective. Entirely subjective, or objective depending on your perspective. The harbinger of quality perhaps, or simply that of a flash of brilliance, gone quicker than the blink of an eye. New can be used for many things, however, today’s focus of an oft favorite adjective falls on the shoulders of Melbourne based DJ, and producer, Kia, her label, and a cadre of fellow artists. 

Animalia as a label is new in every sense of the word, and in every sense, the best possible. Much like her mixes, Kia has curated an intricate selection from the thriving Melbourne scene that ticks every box for a burgeoning label. A proverbial shot across the musical bow if you will.

Our shot for today comes in the form of Dashiell & Sam Brickel and ‘Run Out Groove’. Nestled nicely among the other breakish tunes of Animalia 001, ‘Run Out Groove’ provides just as the name implies. Grooves with undulating synths and flashy acid highlights, persisting throughout to provide a top tier atmosphere. We’ll be watching, with ears wide open here at Delayed for what new things come out of Animalia, and we hope you do as well.
