“Take Two” is a new series of EP’s under SaturdaySelects that focuses on the creativity and rendition of artists we work on remixes and edits of some of their favourite tracks. This gives a new outlook at an existing track adding flavours and sounds that give the track a new lease of life. The project also pairs up a designer with the artist of the project to create a collaborative effort in giving their analysis of the tracks vibe and translates it into the cover design of the EP, hence creating an audio-visual synergy and project.

The unsigned series continues with the sixth installment of producers we dig that are looking to find a home for their music. We've been checking in with some of the producers who have graced the series thus far to see if there are any updates. Both they and we are super happy about the reception that our unsigned series has received and the comments about the music (both public and private) have been overwhelmingly positive. There have been a few minor inquiries made to the artists so far, but we want to further encourage our label and artist friends to get in touch with them if you're liking what you're hearing and hopefully sign some of their yet unheard productions!

Hello there! My name is Sebastian and I am a 27-year-old producer who is based out of the capital city of Switzerland. I started my journey in electronic music back in 2007 when I came out with my first official release on the label called Sirion Records. Since then, I have tried developing sounds from many different genres, but now think that I have found my way.

I spend my time mostly trying to come up with music that makes me happy, that usually involves experimentation with vintage gear, tape noise and heavy doses of saturation. As one might guess, my favorite sub-genres at the moment are lo-fi house with hints of disco sprinkled in between. If I had the money, I would definitely spend it on buying every synthesizer that has ever been built.

The idea of behind my unreleased track "Changes" was to embody the strange feeling one feels when they hear that they are going to be a father for the first time. When my girlfriend first told me the news, I was filled with happiness, sadness, and uncertainty all at once, and that is the mood I was trying to get across throughout its entirety. This is the main reason the song has the title that it does - because there is no bigger change in one's life than when they start a family of their own.

Our next premiere comes to you from rhythm section aficionado Contours. After the much acclaimed Loose Wood EP back in 2016, North West is the Manchester Producer’s second release for Shall Not Fade. North West is brimming with all the delicacies we have come to expect from a Contours EP:  jazzy rhodes chords, tasty sax licks, and incredibly intricate polyrhythmic drum patterns.

Our choice cut from the EP is the title track, North West. The track opens with an airy repeating trumpet line that slowly rises much like the morning fog, as shimmering bells begin to sway around in the mix like a brisk gust on wind chimes. This eventually gives way to an entrancing conga pattern that pitters and patters like rain drops on a roof. Eventually a 2-step kick comes in and adds even further bounce to the track. On North West, Contours showcases his unique ability to fuse jazz and afro-beat influences into a pulsing thought provoking journey through a misty and grayscale terrain. With its clavinet groove, upright bass and afrobeat percussions, “Love Was The Motive” feels like a real 70s funk throwback.

It seems an eternity since City Fly’s last release with homegrown bad boy The Last Trip To Gandahar back in the summer of 2018. The EP received love from underground cats and mainstream players alike - even appearing on BBC Radio 1 and receiving rave reviews in both DJ Mag & Mixmag.

Moving into 2020, they launch the first in their ‘Fly Family’ compilation albums, calling upon an array of underground all-stars from around the globe to make up this 12 track album of previously unreleased / original cuts.
