Junction Forest is a new label operated by Junction Records Store, out of Seoul. The first release is from our associate Tim a.k.a S.O.N.S and is a trance 3-tracker with a few twists. 
It is titled after an (in)famous forest in the middle of Seoul, straightforwardly called... Seoul Forest. 

Some words from S.O.N.S about the release:

So I got some complains about my last album, reportedly containing no danceable tracks, 
"I tried to play it out and everybody left" said one angry customer. "I thought it sounded fine but it clears the floor 100%" wrote another one.

Well this time I took a different approach.

On the A side, you get Tteuggeopge (meaning "Hot" in Korean) - it's a mixture of acid techno and psy-trance breakdowns, with some vocal samples taken from an old Korean movie, a jazz intro and a long 9.09minutes build up (figures are never chosen randomly) which I hope won't let the dancefloor unmoved - if you dare to play it! 
On the flip you get the ambient version... no! I was joking! you get 2 other trance tracks
Psychic Link is a mixture of Hard & Goa Trance sounds with breakbeats samples & a surprising deep tribal interlude in the middle to cool down the room for a minute. 
And finally Snow White And The Seven Mushrooms is an angry bad tripping tribute to 90s progressive house sounds. Like if Robin S took too much acid and is haunted by some supernatural creatures.

Since the arrival of E-Prime with their debut single, August is an Angel, the duo, consisting of siblings Trevor & Jaclyn Blumas have been steadily making impressions with diggers and groovers with their infectious blend of 80s pop, old school house, new beat, 90s R n' B, balearic and more. Thanks to some crucial support from global club DJs and nods from LA's legendary KCRW and London's NTS, E-Prime has cemented a solid grassroots following in their short existence thus far.

Longtime purveyors of the underground might be familiar with the Blumas siblings music from their old project Doomsquad. Gone is the politically charged, late-night rave spirt of their former project in favour of sunnier anthems about love and self-determination more suited for daytime cruises & sunset sets. However, their next single No Guestlist represents a sort of bridge between their former project and this new one, as it was originally written back in 2019 as a Doomsquad song before the band abruptly decided to call it quits with the arrival of the pandemic. Now, reworked and repurposed, the song places the activist rallying cries of constant marginalization and toxic gentrification at the hands of late-capitalism, overtop of a classic ballroom house groove supported by MC-909 samples and Neptunes inspired keys.

Essential remix support comes from Toronto's Active Surplus (Pacific Rhythm), who rework the song into a twisted collision of acid and electro. Rounding out the Maxi single comes a complete revisioning of the original song from Planet Euphorique label boss, D. Tiffany. Her moonlight transformation places the song deep into rave territory with a 134bpm progressive techno head trip.

Lisene - Old Prog, New Tricks EP

Frond's journey continues with her inaugural release on wax! We were first introduced to Frond when she was being booked for DJ sets by some of London's most exciting promoters. Having caught her play we were quick to get in touch and after releasing a wicked mix on the pod series, we started chatting about pushing her productions on the label.

Having released on her own Cross Pollination platform, and more recently, putting together a remix for Nickon Faith, Purple FIelds sees Frond continue to develop her signature acidy prog that has become so familiar across her dj sets. 🌱

Close friend of the label, @Tywi is best known for having co-founded Haws with our very own Jmes as well as the boys Sub Rosa and Rhodri Price back when we were all living in Cardiff nearly 8 years ago ⁉️

Since then Tywi has worked tirelessly to craft Haws into one of the most beloved labels on the scene, whilst continuing to throw wicked parties in the Welsh capital and beyond. In the background Tywi has been honing his skills as a producer and over the last couple of years he has released on a couple of compilations and most recently put together his inaugural solo EP on Duality Trax. 

Earth System sees Tywi display a different side to his production, taking inspiration from 90's Goa and prog producers, he has put together a tune that just seems to grow in stature each time you play it. Thanks so much for trusting us with this one mate!
