Kalahari Oyster Cult have been thumbing through their back catalogue and return to a past gem for some renewed attention. 2017 saw the release of Erell Ranson’s Hand in Hand, a quintet of beautifully crafted machine music. Two tracks have been chosen from the EP and remixed with stunning results.

First up is Dj Normal 4’s “Sealife Safari MixX” of “If We Never Try.” The sweet, shimmering melody of the original, the bubbling bass and subtle notes, are transformed in this remake. Silvery chords morph into bold and daring new forms under the tutelage of Tim Schumacher, neon streaked patterns coalescing with broken and cracked percussion for a superbly uplifting piece.

Pariah follows with his rework of “Hand in Hand.” A deep dreamscape intricately woven with heady notes, birdsong and endless possibilities.

The final odyssey comes care of SW (Stefan Wust) of SUED fame. The Berlin based musician delivers his reimagined idea of “If We Never Try” with Ranson’s version being washed over by lapping lines and gentle currents to create a smooth rounded finale. A trio of unique perspectives from three true talents of electronic music.

Warmly welcoming Gacha Bakradze on Horoom, we share the work of a Georgian artist that has gained international recognition in the past years. 

While In a time where harder is better, Gacha Bakradze sonically suggests a more minimalistic approach to the sound of electronic music. This is reflected in the opening track of the record and this premiere's "Elevate". The track stays true to its name: elevating melodies guiding through a jungle of beats.

She rubbed her eyes and squinted around the room, her gaze still clouded in the early morning haze. As her vision cleared, she realised she didn't recognise her surroundings. The room felt vaguely familiar, as if she had visited it a life time ago, but she didn't live here. At least she was pretty certain she didn't. How had she come to be here? As she rose from the bed, a picture on the mantelpiece caught her eye. As she approached it, she gulped. There she was, clear as day... Her own image smiling back at her.

Following her debut last year with the razor sharp Womanhood, Orphan. Records co-founder Klein Zage returns with an EP on her own imprint, inspired by her beloved service industry. The three tracks on Tip Me Baby One More Time move through the motions; the A-Side provides a snapshot of Zage 'clocked in' while the B-Side - our pick, 'I'm Almost Certain That I'm Here' featuring fellow Orphan co-founder Joey G ii - takes things into more introspective realms, with twinkling dubwise electronics layered with Zage's wistful yet commanding vocals.

All profits from the release will be donated to the Restaurant Worker's Community Foundation Covid-19 Emergency Relief Fund as well as New York's 'Service Worker's Coalition', in light of the impact that the Covid-19 crisis is having on the restaurant industry.

The recent disruption of daily life has caused us to reflect and consider what we believe to be meaningful, important and what brings joy to our existence. The bowl of liquid in front of her teemed with different smells; vivid in its colours that swirled and bled into one another in hypnotic shapes. She was intrigued at what possible effects would ensue after she gulped this down, the stories thus far hadn't given much away. She didn't know what to put that down to, but had come to the decision she simply had to find out for herself. Holding her nose tight she drank the mystery concoction down in one. Now to exercise patience...

After three years of putting on parties in Bangkok, the group of friends behind the Karma Klique collective have embarked upon a new mission, launching their label Siamese Twins Records. Through working with local Asian artists, the objective is to create a space for exploration to a form a dialogue of new sounds, and they're starting life with an EP from Mogambo, the collaborative project of label co-founder Sunju and multi-instrumentalist Jerom Doudet. Cobra, offers up four tracks fuelled by their shared love of Bollywood movies, electronica and psychedelic gongs, matching hypnotic grooves with elements of 90s Goa, slow trance and tribal percussion.
