	London-based electronic musician Beringei is back following a brief departure from music-making after his electrifying debut EP for WotNot records in 2019, The People, The Place. The central focus of his latest EP, Without You (also dropping courtesy of WotNot), is adapting to change and the process of making the best of one’s circumstances. The EP was born out of pre-pandemic personal troubles, namely Beringei’s injury and his struggles with mental health in 2019. Given the current state of affairs, it also doubles as a timely and restorative balm for these precarious times.

Opening track, “Peace of Mind”, wastes no time setting the tone. Warm, velvety keys, a rubbery bassline, and airy vocals courtesy of singer Andrés Alcover, quickly envelop the listener as if in a silky blanket. Andrés gently coos the song’s refrain “Oooh I don’t know/What it takes to find/Peace of mind” as the shuffling percussion kicks in and the synths get more spacey, evoking a kind of Herbie Hancock-esque space-jazz suite. There’s a wonderful ease and relaxed quality to the whole composition, offering a soothing counterpoint to the existential plea of the lyrics.

There are no grand gestures or melodramatic flourishes inherent to the track, or to Beringei’s music in general. Here, Beringei displays his knack for imbuing his dance music with a sense of restraint and equanimity. There’s comfort to be found in it.

South London based music heads Chris and Chris, AKA FYI Chris are back with a release on Toy Tonics. FYI Chris were cemented into the forefront of the Peckham music scene following a release on Rhythm Section and their work at local record store Rye Wax. The  talented duo manages the record store giving them an opportunity to share their eclectic music taste with everyone that visits.It’s one of those shops where you pick up a record and they suggest another. Before you know it you have a bag full sounds you had never heard before, but are not sure how you could have possibly lived without.

Today we premiere the third track of the EP titled Flat Psych.The track is driven by the rhythmic pattern of the cymbals, ticking hi-hats and swinging percussion. A vocal harmony that has been chopped and sliced brings the feel good vibes.  In a mix this one is perfect when you want to refresh a dance floor add some percussion and bring some positive energy. After a first EP released earlier this year on Folamour imprint, FHUO, Madcat is back with a second maxi entitled The Doors of Perception, coming on Pont Neuf Records on December 7th. The Parisian producer - who first released some tracks Pont Neuf compilations Habemus Paname before experiencing a first success with Petite Musique de Chanvre on FHUO - shows all his groovy touch on this new 4 tracker that appears as a door open on his many influences from jazz, funk and hip-hop, both catchy and mystical with its name in tribute to Aldous Huxley. The EP opens on ‘Le Jeu du Roi d’Ur’, as a downtempo introduction with a disco atmosphere and a heady vocal. The second track ‘Pardès’ - literally «garden» or «orchard» - appears as a dancing ride with its catchy bassline and dreamy melodies. ‘Call  Me  Ishmael’, makes the listener jump on these guitar riffs and a smashing jazzy and funky rhythmic part. Finally, ‘In-Yo’, appears as a closing track divided into two phases, first with a mental deep house part before completing the maxi with an irresistible funky finale.

Felipe Gordon - I'll Become Blue

https://soundcloud.com/moffandtarkin second Lagaffe instalment marks the label's 8th vinyl release. The release sports three original tracks from the Austrian-based Icelander and a remix from label boss Jónbjörn.

The record starts off with the track Buzz Lightyear, who flies us off out of the atmosphere filled beginning into the depths of the spacey synths, delays and feedback. 

Followed is the track Friends Be like, which feels like a refreshing strut down the boulevard where everyone you meet knows you and you know them but instead of saying hello you are wearing headphones and just strut down the street nodding, winking and walking in beat with true swagger. A track with confidence written all over it.

The flip side features the track Takk! which roughly translates as Thank You! in Icelandic. Maybe not roughly, but rather exactly. The track is dramatic and starts off rather stress inducing but takes a whole new direction when Moff & Tarkin adds in soothing piano chords and makes the track’s whole mood switch. Maybe its a fitting goodbye for the listener as you make your way through label boss Jónbjörn’s remix which has a very warm and feel good atmosphere, lush drums and elements that add on layers to the already great original. A very personal remix and a good ending to a great record that we hope you can enjoy.

PREMIERE: Jonny Oso - Loner Stance [Super Tuff]

New year, new you, new crew! Another rising star from France, Marina Trench, joins the WOLF Music family, following up an inaugural EP on DJ Deep's highly acclaimed Deeply Rooted with this accomplished and diverse four tracker of house goodness.

Absorbed by house music from an early age Marina Trench is already proving herself to be a humble, yet highly talented, force to be reckoned with. Waterside EP is case in point. The title track is summertime ecstasy through and through. Undeniably catchy and packed with a club-ready punch, Trench sets off at pace, revolving the track around a pinging techy bassline as layers of percussion, echoing pads and delicate vocal refrains from Marina herself glide on through. Peak time, earworm business that bangs.

Get up, ‘Get In’. Moving through the downright ethereal to some tough, dancefloor darkness. Sweeping pads and glitching arps ease you in before the breakdown leads to an unleashing of brooding bass chords and reverberating top end counterparts that marry with a mean acid bassline. Tough, tactile and firmly focused on the club.

On the flip, ‘Train Call’ is a chopped jazzy deep house roller. Heavyweight piano stabs intertwine with deft twinkles as crisp hats dance around thumping kicks before ‘Straight’ eases you off into the depths of the night. A sumptuous little slice of deepness - meditative, trance-like calls from the ocean and pensive pianos provide a perfect soundtrack for the early hours.

Deep melancholic synth work reminiscent of Soul Capsule's 'Lady Science' or K-Scope's 'Organism'. Penned by Glasgow producer @austin-ato as part of a 24 track compilation for Five Miles to help raise money for the London club amid Covid-19 struggles.
