“Coup de Foudre” is a French idiom referring to love at first sight. With 'Day Dream' they created a Detroit-inspired emotive house music hymn, depicting a dreamy feeling of "in-between realities".

CDF are the DJ/ producers Alex Coly and Chuck Black, an Amsterdam based French duo who share the same philosophy about music. Their style ranges from house and deep-house to electronic, African percussions and beats with a techno twist.

Alex Coly and Chuck Black individually started their musical journey in 2017 building up their act and technical skills following their encounter with the amazing, multi talented Amsterdam music scene. The two young men have since then kept on fanning their own flames throughout Europe and the United States all the while developing their joint brand, always aiming to give their audience a soulful and memorable moment.

Since bursting onto the scene three years ago Maroki has shaped out an emotionally-charged sound which comfortably wraps around any number of club styles. Even by his swooning, introspective standards, his new release on Ano Ano takes this idea further with guest vocalist Maeve rounding out some of his most poignant productions to date. 
 
2021 was a tricky time to gain a foothold in club music, but Maroki’s music transcended the limitations of dance music without dancefloors thanks to his melodic strong suit, drawn from a background in classical piano and soundtrack composition. A run of acclaimed releases on labels like E-Beamz, Lost Palms and Flippen Bits cemented his arrival as he elegantly moved between light-footed breakbeat, dexterous 2-step and artfully swung house.

Through The Tooth follows a logical path from his previous appearance on Ano Ano - the 2023 EP Plastic Brain, thanks to Maroki’s innate instinct for the low-end sound craft of UK soundsystem music and the harmonic sensibility he applies to every aspect of his sound. If these six new tracks feel more inwardly focused than, say, his drop on Lobster Theremin, it’s because they were made through the surreal isolation of lockdown.
 
The presence of rising icon Maeve [3] on ‘Still Burning’ and ‘Bad Day In Bonus Town’ celebrates the sense of liberation that came as outside life resumed — the pair connected in the wake of Glastonbury Festival to create the final pieces of the puzzle that make up this EP. ‘Dreamer’ features additional production from Hypnøs, a close friend whose studio sits across the canal from Maroki’s in Amsterdam, and you can expect to hear more from their partnership in the coming months.
 
A special mention goes to the artwork for Through The Tooth, which comes from James Lacey at Pointless Illustration. A longtime friend of Maroki’s, Lacey renders the sound of the EP in dusky tones and geometric formations that call back to the bold vision of the Italian futurists — a fitting mood for the balance of retro and modernist touches contained in the music.
 
Exploring a more universal approach that reaches beyond the pure functionality of music for the club, Maroki taps into the idea we don’t just need beats for late nights in dark rooms. These are songs to carry with you through life, with an emotional resonance which lingers long after the final delay trails have run their course on EP closer ‘Offworld Paddy’.

Signs of Space frontmen @longislandsoundeire are next in line to grace the ranks of Oath with their latest body of work, an immersive and dynamic exploration of genre-blending electronic dance nuances. The duo, championed by Boiler Room, AVA and HÖR Berlin, delves into a deluge of ethereal energy across four absorbing dancefloor-ready records that make up their ‘Fracture’ EP.

Due for single release on 9th Feb ahead of the EP's full launch, the opening track ‘Flare’ brings together shuffled two-step grooves, celestial vocal accents, and retro analogue synths to carve out an empyrean number with cosmic nuances throughout. ‘Your Love’ comes next, showcasing more of the duo’s innate ability to seamlessly weave intricate harmonic progressions with a gritty edge accompanied by cinematic-level soundscapes, poignant vocal injections, and a solid breakbeat foundation.

2024 gets underway, Oath are thrilled to share the imprint’s latest long play, which comes courtesy of rising star Moonee - and you better believe its a solid gold stunner…

Francois Lefevre, the producer behind the Moonee name - alongside his group projects Twice Movement and Simple Request (with French House royalty Tour-Maubourg) - really optimizes all that is bold and beautiful about the House genre. The release of ‘Wabi Sabi’ on Groovence in 2022, then ‘Primal Groove’ on Slothboogie last year, has already helped Lefevre craft a significant space for himself under the Moonee name. His sound is one of tremendous melodic feel, with a plethora of rhythmic patterns and atmospheres being utilised to help create a bountiful sonic universe. His attention to how the groove unravels and how progression can be used softly but subtly really comes over strong, immersing the listener in a very warm place indeed. As beginnings to discographies go, this start is immensely strong, and one which provides a rock solid basis for all sorts of excellence to come forth.

‘Sandquest’ provides the next step in the journey for Moonee, and as LPs go it contains the same kind of depth as his first two EPs, but on display is a kind of magic that producers really harness on long plays. The record is encapsulated in the fundamentals of house, but to say that it sticks to a singular formula would be to do it a massive disservice - Moonee leaves nothing unturned when it comes to serving up the goods. Broken Beat and skippin’ rhythms play a big part in breaking up the uptempo numbers, as as a balancing act its handled very well indeed. The melodic usage is expertly handled on all tracks, and when breaking down the record you can feel that the journey from track to track has been considered superbly - be it in the club or at home.

Two EPs down, and now this fantastic long play. Moonee really flexed his style and craft on this record, one which constantly delighted at every turn, providing an enriching spectrum of sounds that stick true to his production technique and to his craft. Not for one second do you stand still, but merely carried along on a wave of melodic euphoria, simply pleased to be along for the ride. The dips from heavy hitting though to softly spoken at handled so well, and as a result we are left with a pretty damn good way to enter in 2024. Winter has arrived, but warm your heart with this stunner.

Craft Music's Good For Dance series continues with its second instalment and this one has been curated by none other than DJ Craft himself. Joining him are talented pals Schmoltz, Bogdan Ra, Romain FX, and Outra, also known as Joutro Mundo. These deep diggers are celebrated for their prowess in unearthing hidden gems and transforming them into dancefloor anthems and that's what they do here as each artist brings a unique flavour to the mix. Schmoltz's 'Luv The States' is a peak-time percussive disco jam, Bogdan Ra brings some slap-funk drums and glossy Italo synths and 'Tell Me Why' has crunchy drums and jagged synth stabs before a camp closer in 'Colosso'.

Aurore 404 kicks off 2024 with a new digital solo EP series spearheaded by French artist Disset. His 5-track EP, featuring a remix by Harry Wills, marks the inaugural release.

In this EP, Disset literally constructs a realm of melodies, where bass lines serve as foundations, drums echo through streets, and notes intertwine like inhabitants of a fictional city he envisions: Calamero. Each track represents a different aspect within this fictional city. 

The concept of retrofuturism is portrayed musically through a combination of modern electronic machines and samples of traditional instruments, tribal percussion, and ambient sounds.
