Remixes from Bremen based Warpath & Ranko and Scissorwork from Bristol on top. Rumor has it weed and the spheres of the universe were also involved in making this EP.

The ever-eclectic producer has since partnered up with esteemed labels such as Seb Wildblood’s Church imprint and deep-house institution - Quintessentially, Loz has since reinvented his sound with an experimental edge and a penchant for live instrumentation. It’s Goddard’s ability to explore a wide range of genres and tempos whilst maintaining an authentically personal sound that is particularly special. Whether it’s the slow ambient motions inspired by the likes of Boards of Canada or the rattling breakbeat workouts imbued with the spirit of the nineties U.K underground, this northern powerhouse delivers a deeply immersive sound design to be utilised in the club and for home listening. Yes people! Here is another exclusive Selectors premiere! this time featuring a track from Skygaze’s new EP “Astral Trip” which is dropping on Flumo Recordings tomorrow!

Architect by day and musician by night, Jaime Tellado picks up as Skygaze, and returns to the Flumo Recordings fold with his brand new 12″, the ‘Astral Trip’ EP; combining his knowledge of architecture with a love of sound to construct and merge acid house, broken beat and atmospheric melodicism.

The ‘Astral Trip’ EP follows releases on Guayaba records, Riverette and Thirty Three Circular. And remixes for Ed is Dead and Contours & Yadava, earning support/plaudits from the likes of Mr. Scruff, Simbad, k15, Andrew Jervis, Gilles Peterson, amongst others.

The common denominator throughout the release is the balance and combination of various elements, exploring a multifaceted contemporary dance sound whilst paying homage to the foundations of the sounds that we listen to today. EP opener “Minor Mood” pays tribute to Chicago and Detroit with its high paced house rhythm, acid synths, and piano lines, leading us directly to “City Cathedratics” as Tellado slows the tempo down to lay the groundwork for a dreamy synth-laden soundscape.

Whilst the majority of the project is a solo exploration in dance music and its multi-layered context and history, the contributions of vocalist Ruben Ondina lift the high-paced, synth house grooves of “Gimme Five” to another level. Meanwhile, the broken beat influence of London is keenly felt on “Nigh Heat” and “Wagwan”, their rhythms emphasised further by harmonic and melodic exploration via atmospheric synths, melodic improvisation and irresistible synth bass lines.

Skygaze reconstructs the rhythms and synths into his own fresh and unique package to paint a picture of spiritual wonder, richness and excitement.

The Lagaffe boys have a special one for you. Lagaffe 10 marks the 10th EP in our vinyl series and serves as a perfect way to end our 10th year in existence. To mark this occasion we are releasing a 4 tracker with our founders and label regulars. 

The EP opens up with Cohen Social Club by Flexi Leifs aka Felix Leifur. Our man Felix lost his drum machines last spring but luckily he found a guitar and some drums. The track starts off with suspicious sounding guitar notes that somehow up as pure beauty, giving hope in the darkest of places. Frodo with the ring stuff, if you know what I mean. Playful reverbs and echos give the tune the classic Felix Leifur feel to it! 

Moff & Tarkin has the next track "Pure Fury", some breakbeats and cheesy disco vocals, why change a winning recipe? 

Next up is "We are not alone " by label boss Jonbjörn. I think this is what Elton John meant when he said "thank god for those electro bangers!" With "Að handan" Viktor Birgiss comes back to the label in style. Our mastering engineer described it as having the loudest kickdrum in history, imagine that! Lo fi dub sounding drums interlaced with atmospheric chords, made for those late night intimate moments on the dancefloor, again Frodo with the ring stuff, if you know what I mean.

Selectors will be doing several premieres this week - starting off with this groover from Ben Hauke's latest EP "Save The Date" dropping this Friday on Last Year At Marienbad!

As we stumble into 2023, Oath sub label Last Year At Marienbad stand tall with this wondrous new mini-album from the multi-faceted and talented Ben Hauke, with a collection of tracks that make the head turn and the soul yearn.

It only makes sense for Hauke to release his latest masterclass via the one and only Last Year In Marienbad, which has blessed us with two excellent records from Retromigration and Jesse Bru thus far, with ‘Save The Date’ acting as yet another impressive step forward for both the imprint and Hauke. The record is, as always, seeped in dynamic boundary defying moods and breezy, steppin grooves, moving easily from club floors through to sun kissed walks and deep hued evenings. There’s the broken beat masterclasses in the form of ‘Make Up Break Up Bench’ and ‘Let’s Move On Bro’, both of which contain swings that could move mountains and a sombre yet uplifting top layer of keys and flutes which really tie into that sampled feel we know and adore Hauke for. Then there’s the upbeat house numbers, and they really are something - from the fast talking ‘Watch Me Now’, with its gorgeous filtered melodic lines and evocative vocal elements, through to the 90s leaning ‘Forever Me’ with its electronic Sax taking centre stage as we welcome the morning light, through to the title track and its driving wobbles and emphatic piano lines, there is much to be said about the spaces that can be inhabited within and around these tracks. There’s even time for a break half way through, with the sub-1 minute ‘First Snow’ showcasing Hauke’s love of Hip Hop , and within a sea of energised grooves its joyous to be provided with a differing side to the story, a recharge if you will.

Ben Hauke has really harnessed a particular something during his career to date, and it is no surprise that he continues to push out top quality recordings that feel very much in his own image, and for us ‘Save The Date’ feels like his most complete and accomplished release to date, and that is saying something when compared to the quality he has provided us with before. Heart inducing, pulse setting, all bound within a easy going atmosphere that washes away the fears and sets the mind on a brighter path - a path we are so very willing to traverse. So why not take a gander and be whisked away on a sea of only the finest House laden Vibrations - Mr Hauke has you covered…..

Stratocumulus: a cloud belonging to a genus-type characterized by large dark masses, usually in lines or waves, much like this melodic sub banger from London based artist, K-LONE. Keeping deep dark garage alive and at the forefront of the movement, K-LONE, producer and creator of Wisdom Teeth record label, throws out another sci-fi infused gem with the help of scrumptious delightful Bristol label, Banoffee Pies. This track comes as part of the Banoffee Pies Digi 05 which is a compilation of a records previously available on vinyl-only, a release full of treats from the likes of Jay Anderson, Crump and Gallegos!

Sophisticatedly distorted vocals crackling in, live percussion, signature hefty sub bass, clever snares and classic hi-hat rhythms; ‘Clouds’ is a 7 minute galactic odyssey that is seductive and unforgettable. The space is filled perfectly, every unique segment is used to create an intense scene. K-Lone, uses his refined production skills to echo the classic uplifting garage vibe, but ensures that you don’t float off too far, there is enough murkiness to lure you into the deepest darkest corners of the grimiest basements and warehouses. Imagine you are about to transcend up into the unknown but as you start to float earth-shaking bass keeps you skanking firmly on the ground. Like watching a storm from a balcony, this track is eventful and entirely gripping. K-Lone cleverly carves out an impressive bassy landscape somewhere between earth and space. Light airy synths swim beneath hard hitting thunderous beats, this track rumbles cracks, breaks and bangs.
