Lava Steps Snippets (Flippen Disks)

Giving Chase is Hudson Valley-based musician and DJ Scotia's debut solo release on Acid Camp Records. The six-track record is a high-femme hardware journey filled with jacking rhythms, swampy acid lines, and coquettish vocals. The EP opens with a pairing of feverish acid jackers "Who Really" and "Time 2 Work." "Pillow Priestess" and title track "Giving Chase" are expressionistic grooves that explore the ups and downs of sex and romance. "Love To Hate It Too" is a cheeky love letter to acid-house culture, and Otodojo's remix of "Time 2 Work" puts the original track through a kaleidoscope of bass rhythms and textures.

Scotia co-promotes the party Community Rave Network, a monthly queer-centric event that prioritizes classic rave values of music-first ecstasy. She began buying vinyl, DJing, and making tracks while living in Brooklyn in the early 2000s. After moving back to her hometown, she began promoting parties as Outpost 1 that supported regional club sounds—making connections with Brooklyn's UK Bass upstarts Turrbotax and the ballroom scene's Mike Q. In 2011, her work in the music industry went on hiatus, returning in 2022 and since then performing at Wrecked, The Bunker, and at renegade raves and clubs down the East Coast.

Blending spoken word, heavy bass and club-driven experimentation into something raw, physical and deeply immersive, Sha Ru have carved out a sound that is as cerebral as it is visceral — one that uses low frequencies, texture and space to question how music is felt, not just heard. Their sonic world thrives on contrasts: poetry and pressure, intimacy and intensity, narrative and noise. It’s a language built from the ground up, tuned as much to the body’s response as to the ear’s perception.

With their brand-new self-released EP Vibra Vibra (out October 23), Sha Ru push this philosophy even further. Each track explores how sound ripples through the body and transforms space: sub-bass compressing the chest, subterranean frequencies grounding the gut, buzzing waves pulsing through the skull. It’s a work that positions bass as architecture — a tangible force shaping bodies and rooms alike — and in doing so, it reimagines the dancefloor as a deeply physical environment.

To mark the release, Sha Ru join our MIXED BY series with both an exclusive mix and an in-depth conversation. Across the interview below, the duo dive into the sonic science behind Vibra Vibra, the collaborative dynamic that powers their work, and the political and poetic dimensions that run through their art. Then, in the mix, they extend that exploration into a hypnotic, body-centric journey — a sonic landscape built to be felt in every cell as much as heard in every ear.

AZIZ returns to NYMFIELD with his second EP called 'Soul'. Four smooth deep house cuts making sure you're warm during these upcoming winter months. The EP starts with the title track 'Soul'. A tune with attention to detail within its layers. This in combination with solid beats, heavy bass and soul soothing chords, makes the tune true to its name. 'Higher' is a lush deep house record which finds its inspiration more into the mid-00's era of deep house. More techy and tighter beats in combination with deep pads and lush chords. Advancing into the EP we encounter the soul uplifting 'I Wish I Knew'. A bit reminiscent of summer and its glory days, this record is filled with synths, catchy vocals & that old school groove. Rounding off the EP we have 'Can't You See'. A proper mellow deep house cut. While the EP holds his basis within the deeper sounds, AZIZ brings multiple vibes & energy levels to the table. His 'Soul' is out on all major platforms on the 17th of October

"Fractured Realms" continues the world opened in "Shatterfield" pushing deeper into the fractured dimension uncovered through the break.
Across four heavy, glitch-driven tracks, the EP explores unstable rhythms, shattered bass structures, and cold cinematic tension — each piece pulling you further into the depths of the rupture.

The journey closes with Tomorrow’s Shell, a downtempo and ambient-inspired outro that shifts the EP into a completely different emotional space. After the distortion collapses, the fragments settle. A new world forms — fragile, quiet, and strangely peaceful.
