Sub Basics lands on Osmura with the 'Phase Drift' EP, the label's second release, following a 2024 V/A featuring Caldera, Bartoli, Atomic Moog, Solma, Birgan, and Shjva. The ‘Phase Drift’ EP opens with ‘Colour’, a high-tempo, percussive, bass-heavy cut blends hypnotic echoing synths with soft, mellow syncopated pads. Up next, ‘Scope’ works a tumbling high bpm percussion over an aquatic undercurrent. On the flip, ‘Splinter’, Sub Basics deftly builds melodies and brings punchy, moody textures to the fore. Finally, the ‘Phase Drift’ EP wraps up with ‘Nt’, a deep, expansive soundscape marked by a chugging groove and gritty industrial reverb.

London-based Sub Basics producer, DJ and Temple Of Sound founder has accumulated support from Ben UFO, Laurent Garnier, Roman Flügal, Kia, Lena Willikens, Tasha and Foundation Audio. Sub Basics’ discography extends to labels such as Modern Hypnosis, Infernal Sounds and Bait, which featured in Mixmag’s 2024 best tracks of the year roundup. The ‘Phase Drift’ EP perfectly encapsulates a unique genre-defying approach to production from an artist on a spiralling upward trajectory. Sub Basics arrives on Osmura, an imprint representing London’s hypnotic dubby auditory landscape.

PREMIERE: Sub Basics - Scope

Glad to share our first release of the year, produced by Andrei Rusu and including a remix from Beatrice M. The Romanian and Berlin-based artist has been deeply involved in electronic music production, DJ-ing, and live performance as part of the duo Khidja. We discovered his music through his first solo EP, "I’ve Lost Control", released in 2024 on Berlin based label Malka Tuti, followed by the album "Met Him On A Wednesday", released under his alias Ed Rain and marked by its introspective tone and experimental approach. His weird electro sound is influenced by post punk, DIY and wave. Rusu’s music is organic, exploratory and unconventional.

Andrei: « This is my most cathartic to date, it’s quite haunting and feels a bit like screaming into a pillow. I imagine it as the perfect soundtrack to banging your head against a table. »

A key element throughout the EP’s sound and lively feeling is the use of Andrei’s favorite machines such as the Mort’s Barge module, the Microtonic or the Syncussion. He creates captivating soundscapes and deep evolutive atmospheres that inspired Beatrice M. to deliver a slow bassy belter that compliments this release perfectly.

Priori’s hit EP Pareidolia gets a well deserved remix treatment. The relation between Priori and Midgar started early 2023 with the release of his Pareidolia EP, where a remix for Keplrr followed quickly the year after. Now, early 2025, a group of close friends and admired artists were invited to rework the Pareidolia’s originals.

We're anticipating the release of the full EP with sound experimentalist Notte Infinita, who takes his turn on Pareidolia’s title track and creates some magnificent eyes-closed drum & bass hypnotism.
