This summer sees the very timely arrival of a brand new record label from the Wah Wah 45s family. Allison Recordings further explores the world of electronic music, showcasing up-and-coming producers and music makers, as well as artists that have been on the Wah Wah radar for a number of years. Allison leans towards the dance floor of course, but isn’t your average club music record label.. Whilst this imprint was set up to represent a more electronic output, the soulful DNA of Wah Wah 45s still shines through.

The debut compilation, Sun After Rain, can hopefully provide something of a soundtrack to more optimistic times. The ten artists, providing eleven tracks in all, come together from across the UK from London to Liverpool via Birmingham, Brighton and beyond - from Bangkok to Berlin and Cologne to Amsterdam.

From Brighton to Berlin, and a name that might be familiar to fans of Wah Wah 45s. Having provided a stunning remix for Cinematic Orchestra bass player Hunrosa, and contributed a club friendly re-edit 12” to the label’s Dubplate series, Lavan was one of the first names on the Allison Recordings list. And so naturally, Out 4 Da Gusto, his optimistic and foot friendly contribution to the compilation, was also the first single to be taken from it. We look forward to more sonic joy from this rising star in the coming months too.

Hailing from Malmö, Sweden, Bolting Bits regular Emil Sune has found a way to keep himself busy while most artists' creativity has stalled throughout the pandemic. Having just launched his sub-label Mostly Cozy in February (which already has 3 releases to its name), Sune has somehow managed to set aside time in his hectic schedule to work on his own music. Arguably his most ambitious effort yet, the producer has chosen to team up with the legendary New York record label Let's Play House for a second time to release his LP Everything is Fine. The record is a proper full-length and contains 10 infectious tunes that showcase the sort of jazz-infused house melodies we've grown to recognize Sune by. Although it's difficult for us to pick our favorite of the bunch, we have decided to premiere his lead track Expertis.

Whimsical in its temperament, this original utilizes an assortment of looped synths and percussion as its anchor and playfully builds upon these elements throughout its entirety. Before you know it, Sune's layered basslines and arpeggiated chords gradually get your head nodding and body grooving - whetting the appetite in anticipation of what's to come next. This comforting arrangement of sounds perfectly encapsulates this album's core message and the timeliness in which it's written. Sometimes you just need someone to tell you, "Everything is fine...everything is fine." And given the year we all just had, this is precisely the energy we need right now.
