Lost Connection Remixes: Long Island Sound’s debut album gets fresh treatment from some of the most exciting producers in electronic music. Cromby, Mor Elian, James Shinra and Benjamin Damage feature on Long Island Sound’s Signs of Space imprint.

The tracks on Lost Connection Remixes are stunning reinterpretations of three tracks from Lost Connection, the debut LP from Irish duo Long Island Sound. In 2022 the Dublin-based pair released their first full-length, Lost Connection, which received a stellar review from Resident Advisor, describing it as ‘Glorious, heart-tugging sunset techno’.

For Lost Connection Remixes, the duo have called upon a heavy roster to reimagine their cross-pollination of house, techno and trance-influenced sounds. The EP epitomizes the label’s diverse and expansive sound, reimagining the Dublin duo’s 2022 album in a whole new light.

Fellow Irishman Cromby opens the EP with his rolling and uplifting remix of Power. The track utilizes intricate percussion work and a chunky bassline on top of the original’s celestial pads and vocals, driving the track in a fresh direction.

Power also sees a remix from James Shinra. In his signature and inimitable style, Shinra reinterprets the track as a vast and multi-layered soundscape, creating an immersive and otherworldly atmosphere. He combines intermittent breakbeats, lush pads and complex riffs to create a euphoric, electro-leaning remix.

Mor Elian ups the pace and intensity of the EP with her remix of Dusk. Combining enormous low-end rumbles and syncopated percussion patterns with blissful pads and celestial choirs, Mor’s remix perfectly toes the line between tough and tender.

Benjamin Damage closes the EP with two propulsive techno interpretations of the 2022 album opener, Ataria. Gated vocals, rhythmic pads and flanging high-end percussion are used to build tension, culminating in moments of high-energy dance floor rapture. Damage’s Dub remix ditches the pads and vocals, placing the percussive elements center-stage, providing a stripped-back techno tool.

Lost Connection Remixes is due for full release on April 27th.

Dublin-born and bred Long Island Sound are known for their euphoric-yet-introspective take on electronic music, toeing the line between big emotion and big-room energy. Their music has been featured on Mixmag, DJ Mag and Resident Advisor, as well as Bicep’s mix series and Spotify playlist. Following the success of their debut LP and a sold-out launch party in Dublin’s Tengu, in 2022 the pair embarked on their Summer Irish festival tour, culminating in a standout set at All Together Now.

Antwerp's @supreems releases his debut LP, 'Nachtshone', a bass-forward 11-track release landing via his brand new imprint, @sweetsunrecords.

The record's title track makes use of a familiar sample, most notably popularised by Jamie XX and Joy Orbison, and justified stylistically by Supreems on the full length’s conclusion.

Stories would be told about him one day, that was for certain. As the sun began to set he looked out over his small village and considered his options, might he run away or stay and fight. The light was fading slowly and it felt symbolic of the way in which his own time was running out.

Never had he imagined he might be forced out like this, yet his truth was all that mattered now and the stories that he’d leave behind would go down to be those of mischief and meander. Perhaps it was always supposed to be this way, a Lahla boy running wild and free with no place to go.

Supreems is set to release a new album on the newly launched Sweet Sun. It features a number of emotive electronic cuts channeling elements of broken beat, breaks, UK bass and beyond. This track features vocals from Off the Meds affiliated vocalist Kamohelo.

It’s an absolute pleasure to feature a track from an artist who has been on our radar since he was just 16, on one of our favourite labels; London’s very own: Holding Hands.   

In the words of label head Liam: 

 “Tom is an absolute wizard on the buttons. That much is patently obvious, and when he sent me over this new set of tracks I was absolutely melting. He manages to just get so much lovely texture in to the music and yet craft it in a way that it absolutely crushes it on the dance floor.

I’ve played these out on some big rigs and I honestly can’t believe how amazing they sound. You have to experience it to believe it really. They hit hard but are also packed full of emotion in a totally un-cheesy way.”

No Sir joins the Faux Poly family with their new EP ‘Voyeur’, a release full of rich syncopated percussion and expressive soundscapes that document the artists’ evolving perspective on club spaces and home listening.

The record leans towards sub heavy broken beats, resulting in a confident contribution to the flourishing NYC Bass scene. Despite being based in Brooklyn, No Sir has already broken ground in Europe with singles on 3024 & W133.

“I started producing this EP at a really challenging moment last summer after I got a concussion that left me pretty much bed bound for a month. During this time I also quit drinking, so my relationship to music and going to clubs saw a complete overhaul. This EP is my attempt to find a space in between the hours spent at my quiet apartment and my return to these loud, dark spaces I see as another kind of home. The title track, Voyeur, was the first piece of music I made after the injury” - No Sir

Ronan lands with renewed focus and a new EP on nascent X-Kalay sub-label, Another Place. Musing on personal crossroads, ‘Leaves of Life’ is a highly evocative contemplation on the tides of life. It’s the culmination of a personal arc having sat with the material for six years, further refining the lush, introspective sound that’s characterised his output to date.

The outcome feels similarly unhurried; a pristine, genre-spanning exploration rendered with meticulous attention to detail. Soul-bearing stuff interspersed with words of reassurance through quietly spoken vocals.

The opener strives for utopia. Carried away on a warm current, ‘Song of Surrender’ initiates with a gorgeous unfurling of life-affirming trance that begs repeat immersion. Comparatively direct, ‘Cure for Toxicity’ comes on a breaks-driven flex before a fleeting switch-up into 2-step territory.

Supple groove and jazz modalities fuel airily introspective D&B as we shift focus to title track ‘Leaves of Life’. Then, finally, Ronan closes things out with a ritual purification of sorts. Deploying more breaks but bordering on new age, ‘Sacral Dub’ exudes a soothing, massaging quality with dubby tendencies in full effect.
