We have rolled around to one of my favourite forms of Holding Hands releases. The various artists goodness that is Slam Jams, this being number 3.

I have drafted in bangers of the highest calibre from the likes of Ste Roberts, Bolam, Inner Zone and Yosh. They go high, they go low, they go fast and they go…slightly less fast. If you like slammers, and I’m guessing that you do, then this will be a veritable day out at the fair for your ears.

OK enough of my blather. Go and listen to the damn things yourself and decide if you like them, rather than trying to work it out from reading a bloody press release you weirdos. 

All four tracks are produced and sculpted for the club. They want big sound systems and dark rooms. Close your eyes, hold hands and experience transcendental space flight...

Esteemed proponent of outré dancefloor manoeuvres, Superconscious Records co-founder Fantastic Man makes his Kalahari debut proper.

Having shown up for rework duties on a couple of occasions, we find the mutable oddball at his most trippy and esoteric. In fact, OYSTER42 is the handiwork of a producer who has his formula of balmy, lysergic dance music down to an exact science.

‘Alltogethernow’ gets on a swaggering cosmic tip, all sub-loaded and celestial as levitational arpeggios and funked-up groove dovetail to mesmeric effect. ‘Alpha’, on the other hand, takes a vision quest through enchanted jungle terrain. Initiating with a hypnotic ritual chant, it’s tunnelling and murkily psychedelic; occulted dancefloor rapture tailor-made for the wormhole interior.

As if it were some artefact from a distant ‘90s utopia, Bioxy’ evokes a time when warehouse parties littered the Melbourne landscape. Where its predecessor evokes ceremony and ritual, this is an anachronistic, dilated flashback to simpler times. FM kicks it languid and life-affirming on the closing number. Radiant synth lines flutter with a gentle headiness as ‘Trojan Force’ takes us full circle with a reprise of the rainforest FX.

This Is Our Time warmly welcomes Tifra from Utrecht into the TIOT family and super pumped to have his five-track EP titled 'Coral Fractals' in its catalogue. "The EP gives a nice reflection imo of different sounds I like to produce" - wrote the artist for us, so let's see what kind tracks we got from this wide palette.

We start off with the lively 'Ahora', synth rays emerging from multi-layered drum patterns chased by restless acid serpents, a track that effortlessly shakes you up and gets your blood pumping. Next up is the EP's title track, 'Coral Fractals'. A dark and ominous tech-stomper rolling with the weight of the ocean with small chirps that rise from the depths like bubbles.

We find ourselves entangled in mycelium with the goa trance '4th Dimension' with its constantly coiling melodies and floating harmonies. Cueing up the last two tracks first we have 'Copal' where Tifra pulls influence from the early/mid-90s progressive house tracks sprinkling in some classic voice sample just to complete the warehouse rave feel. The EP closer is 'Gloomy Glitch' a sinister and menacing low-mid tempo ritual, leaving us with an eerie feeling at the end of this journey.

ISLA 22 - 'Outside Of Time' is a collaboration between Interactive Test's Riccardo Falsini and Vancouverite AVR, under Falsini's long-standing 'I Believe' moniker.

In the early nineties, directly influenced by the Summer of Love of 1988, Florentine Riccardo Falsini began his project I Believe–a miscellaneous collection of records, compilations, and collaborations–released through his label Interactive Test (co-run with brother Franco Falsini). 

These sounds would eventually reach Vancouver-based producer AVR (Avery La Rochelle) in the summer of 2018. Compelled by Riccardo’s legacy as a producer and a deejay, Avery reached out to the Italian producer. 

A friendship formed that would see them collaborate on various dance events in Vancouver, as well as their Outside Of Time EP, a reverie of hallucinatory trance music. Over the past year, the duo recorded these tracks with the free spirit of early rave culture in mind.

Outside Of Time is certified dance floor therapy that inspires the listener to believe in the power of love and music.
