WOLF Music (@nysoul) heads Stu & Matt are individuals who are always keeping their ear to the ground in order to discover new talents for their longstanding record label. They also always keep faith with their residents and artists who have been with them since pretty much right in the beginning. They've actually stated in the past that the label is based around their three resident producers, Greymatter, KRL and Medlar who have been a staple on the label and regulars at their showcases since the very beginning. Believing in the development of an artist's sound is maybe not something every label does these days, usually playing it safe and going with the sound of the moment. But not WOLF Music, who stay true to their roots.

With that being said, resident @Medlar is back with another EP for the UK staple. Speaking of development of sound, WOLFEP042 is once again an indication that Medlar is an extremely versatile producer, this time opting for a more Detroit-inspired, electro sound. Each track on the EP is named after one of the producer's favourite restaurants in Palermo, Istanbul, Paris and of course Peckham. And who better to enlist for help on a track based on a South London restaurant than @FYIChris, two of Peckham's finest. 

Our premiere, 'Queen of Tacos' has some tough drums with a sampled drum break forming the basis of the groove while a deep bass perfectly plays into the rhythm. Warm chords and warbled acidy tones contrast the slightly colder drums, lending a nice balance to the tune. A saw-y lead synth takes us away into the climax while a cheeky vocal sample asks "are you telling me that you can't get this in Mexico?". We foresee this one to be a dance floor monster, taking punters into some joy-filled late night moments.

The MSM guys return to @Trunkfunk for their second outing on the label almost exactly a year after their last release. 

The London based duo’s latest musical journey is divided into the 2 most important phases of space travel: take off and landing. We're premiering the launch phase today called "A Neu Take Off" - a tough and futuristic Acid House track propelled by a relentless 303 line. It's a deep and moody beast for sure!

After DJ Psychiatre's goosebumps track from the last Whyte Number VA, it was only a matter of time to have the french fella coming back - this time with a full solo EP. As a little icing on the cake we treated ourselves for the 10th piece of wax with a slammin' remix from a producer who was real high on Blak/ Whyte NumberS list for a long time : Black Loops!

PREMIERE : DJ Psychiatre - Just Bass - Drums, Nothing Else

Foul & Sunk is proud to present 'Morello', a cathartic EP from upcoming producer star D.Y.A. As an university educated jazz drummer the concept of improvisation and aspiration for that one special musical moment is surely no secret to D.Y.A. So both tracks 'Morello' and 'Cosy' are melodic groovers with the extra portion of soul. Beside this there are Johannes Albert and Shan on remixing duties. Albert is taking it to a deeper level, while Shan delivers a 9 min. monster remix with his emotional melodies and deep grooves.

Somewhat of a cult favourite, Shall Not Fade was born out of the city of Bristol in winter 2015 and since then has captured the hearts and minds of us all. They’ve came a long way since their debut release from a young Aussie talent, who unknowingly at the time would go on to become one of the biggest names in electronic music, Mall Grab. The rise of the label has been beautiful to watch and thoroughly deserved, consistently releasing record after record of the highest calibre while continuing to attract superstars; Adryiano, DJ Boring, Skream the list goes on... After establishing themselves in the music scene a new project was unveiled to us all, the sub-label of Lost Palms. Like any sub-label it gave them the adaptability to focus on a more specific sound, a smooth euphoric head-in-the-cloud sound that we are now all too familiar with. Subjoi, Harrison BDP and Demuja are a few names embedded onto the leaves of the Lost Palms. The twenty first Lost Palm gently falls into view and is delivered in expert style by Zoo Look. Already being aware of Zoo Look’s back catalogue, it's easy to see how this match up was inevitable to happen – a perfect musical match. Four completely unique tracks compile the Similar Steps EP, with the entitled track our premiere today. Arpeggiated chords slowly glide in from the mist to become submersed amongst a broken beat. The beautiful thing about this track is the constantly evolving sound winding and diving throughout the stages to make a piece of art. Get yourself a copy of the record, close your eyes and take it all in.

PREMIERE: Zoo Look - Similar Steps

Apparel Music is the platform, Chevals the protagonist, vinyl the material, end of March 2020 is the period of time decided for the landing of the Frenchman’s first solo body of work for the “lovers dogs” label. “Be Yourself” is the title of the four tracks EP by the artist which, by the headline itself, sounds like a declaration of intentions, an acknowledgement of his qualities as a producer, shaping up four different aspects of his creative attitude in a remarkable musical effort. The EP takes off with the title
track which is a perfect display of Cheval’s capabilities when it comes to the art of developing intersecting harmonies and melodies, setting up the perfect ground for a smooth vocal line that keeps on repeating the concept in a hypnotic loop: “just be yourself”! With “Keep On” the Bpm increases to design a beat driven track that winks to northern European rhythmics in an apotheosis of upbeat acid lines, a vibey overlapping of loops we advise against light-sleepers! Side B starts with a more rhythmically classic composition called “Good Good” which is also the last of the three original tracks ; here the strings section mashes up with the vocals, as usual expertly crafted by Chevals and again some hints of acid bass line to form a proper dance floor hit. B2 is dedicated to Madcat’s remix of “Good Good”, where the French producer explains his point of view with a more funky oriented version of the track but keeping the essential parts intact. Impossible not to be excited by this EP by the Parisian producer who finally slams his fist on the table in what is his best musical statement so far.

PREMIERE : Chevals - Good Good (Madcat Remix)

Athlete Whippet give a diverse selection of new wave talent free reign on their recently released Your Love Is Lifting Me EP. From the harmonic sensibilities of Istanbul-based Wunderkind Aleksandir to the sci-fi-inspired UK breaks of Nick Hoppner-protégé Cameo Blush, the result of no boundaries are six beautifully crafted reimaginations that each hold their own, all the while keeping the original integrity of the EP - to lift and connect with emotion.

The laidback electro groove of Newcastle-via-Berlin artist Edmondson makes no exception. Releasing on Me Me Me and Hypercolour as well as his own imprint lissoms, his music has found its way into sets at both ends of the spectrum, from BBC Radio 1 to Berghain.

Athlete Whippet say about his rework: “Our relationship with Sean started off as the classic internet friendship. We’ve always really digged his music and have just chatted for years off the back of that. We finally met earlier this year, so doing something together musically had to be the next logical step in our long-distance romance. Really love what he’s done to the track. Completely stripped it down and turned it on its head.”
