Inspired by the way signals echo across the cosmos like light, radio waves, and sound reverberate through spaces, Azo’s ‘Echoes of Infinity’ EP transmits from the outer edges of emotion. Opener ‘Human Love Language’ lays down a hefty Electro beat with raw Reese bass and yearning pads, while ‘First Light’ breaks through the darkness with shining keys, glowing acid, and hopeful energy. ‘Orbit Breaker’ then pulls us through the void, propelling into new worlds via sub-heavy rhythm and playful, liquid synths perfect to work the dance floor into a frenzy.

The EP’s final stretch ventures into new territory for the label: ‘Where We Belong’ pairs expressive piano with a surprise switch-up into breakbeats, hoover bass, and Hardcore elements, while the title track ‘Echoes of Infinity’ goes full-throttle Drum & Bass, driven by a razor-sharp groove and feel-good piano riﬀs. Traversing genres and emotional states, this EP has already won support from the likes of Dave Harvey, Josh Caﬀe, and Massimiliano Pagliara, reaching inward and outward toward connection, understanding, and something greater.

Azo blends Acid, Techno, Trance, UK Hardcore, and Detroit-inspired sounds into a high-energy, emotionally resonant style. A staple in the European scene, she has appeared on labels such as Correspondant, SNC Crew, Astropolis, and Duality Trax, with past sets at institutions like Fuse, Tomorrowland, Nuits Sonores, Listen Festival, and Watergate. Her Queer Future Club events have toured across Europe, and her radio presence includes shows on The Lot, Rinse France, and Kiosk Radio, where she holds residency.

France via Hong Kong artist Romain FX joins the Sound Of Vast roster this October with the ‘Musique De Maison’ EP, including a remix from Monkey Timers.

Romain has been a key innovator in the Hong Kong & Asian music scene for the past 18 years in various different facets, building bridges between cultures and erasing borders through music. He has since taken a step into the world of production and his music has been played by some of the biggest acts in the game such as DJ Harvey, The Black Madonna, Gerd Janson, Horse Meat Disco, Skatebärd, Lauer, Tornado Wallace, Lipelis, Orpheu The Wizard, Kamma & Masalo and many more. Here his musical production story continues with his latest collection of works coming via the esteemed Tokyo imprint, Sound Of Vast.

Leading the release is title-cut ‘Musique De Maison’, a five-minute excursion through organic percussion grooves, snaking elongated bass tones, intricately intertwined vintage-leaning synth melodies and an overall cosmic disco aesthetic that reflects Romain’s borderless, cross-cultural sound. ‘Tonal Spices’ follows and ups the energy levels with a sturdy rhythm section, squelchy acid licks, murky bass stabs, Indian vocals and cinematic strings ebbing and flowing throughout.

Monkey Timers take on ‘Musique De Maison’ next with their interpretation extracting the core essence of the original and reshaping it into a dynamically unfurling rework, fusing fragments of the original with expansive delays, heavy reverberations and modulating synth work. The ‘Psych-O-Delic (Live Mix)’ then concludes the release with off-kilter drums running in combination with, as the name would suggest, tripped-out melodies, processed spoken word and warbling synth licks — a nod to Romain’s playful, surrealist edge.

'ATLAS', an addition to the label by Jacob himself & premiered here, is a great example of his multi-medium love & pursuit. 

Of the track, Jacob shared: 

“I’ve sat on this track for a long time and was hesitant to release it because it’s a bit different, and not exactly DJ friendly. This is the first track I’ve released of a more cinematic nature, and I’m super excited to finally have it free into the world, despite the initial reluctance to do so! I hope this track can paint a picture of the direction I'm heading, and the world I'm trying to create through music.”

Parisian cassette label Ville Nouvelle are back with a forthcoming tape! This time for VNC005 ‘Dream Plants’ we have 5 tracks by Soft Fit and then another 4 by Aquatic Language, which is a collaborative project between Soft Fit and Precipitation, both of whom are Vancouver-based.

You might know Ville Nouvelle by its only 12” release – a beautiful, beautiful work by fellow Parisian Too Smooth Christ which came out earlier this year. If you’re a regular Bolting Bits reader, you might even remember the label from our VNC004 premiere a few months back, which featured young Australians Yardley and River Yarra. Or, you might simply draw familiarity in the release’s cover art, because despite featuring artworks from different graphic designers for each of its releases, Ville Nouvelle has curated for itself a strong, recognisable label image… and an even more distinct sound. This is a sound which is hazy and soothing; it has a penchant for the organic, the earthy, and with past EP names like ‘Midsummer Melodies’ and ‘LD Fantasy Tracks’, you’d only imagine that there’d be an ethereal flair to it too.

VNC005 ‘Dream Plants’ certainly takes on this sound, but then goes to extend way beyond it with tracks like ‘Lifelike’, a flute duet study in compound-duple time, and ‘Départ’, an 8-and-a-half-minute cinematic soundtrack. A personal favourite is ‘Water Garden’, which features traditional East Asian instrumentation against a trickling stream of water-drop percussion.

Our premiere today is Soft Fit’s A3 ‘Emergency Loop’. The track features creamily pressed-in block chords on woodwind synths, drum machine oscillations, and jazzy explorations on a saxophone synth. At times the bass provides a mellow counter-melody to the sax, other times it bounces us along with a punchy riff, paired perfectly with the shimmery percussive highs. ‘Emergency Loop’ is warm, it’s sincere, and it’s gently elevating. Like the other tracks of the EP, it is a great story-teller – imaginative and picturesque, immersing you in a separate, well-considered scene within the ‘Dream Plants’ narrative.

A FH favorite artist, Tilman returning to a FH favorite label, Klamauk could be nothing other than good vibes really, could it? Well, yes - good vibes they are, with another stellar offering from the diligently vibesum German. From front to flip, Tilman's 'Let's Work it Out' EP almost chronologically toys with the dance floor journey - turning up the heat with the club ready, energetic A-side and easing down with the B-sides post-3am melancholic flavor.

This feature's "Moment's" hits with warmth from the off - filling the entirety of mix's bottom-end with moody rhodes and licked with a soft, surging sub. This is later adjoined with a silky piano melody intertwined with detroit-esque vocal shouts - filling the upper end of the mix with silky sweetness. In a nutshell "Moment's" is a real warming umami broth of a jam - salty-sweet, bowl slurping kinda' shit.
