My Wee Tribe Feat. MC Tickle

“Lace Ups” is our homage to Bowie’s “Pin Ups” in which we document songs by other artists that have influenced us. These have been chosen with no thought to a particular trend, scene or genre they are simply great tunes that float our boat, some of them we’ve performed live over the last 2 years to mark a particular occasion and others were done for a laugh at Rusty’s Yard.
     
Crawfish – a 2nd live take whilst rehearsing for our fund raising gig for the Citadel Youth Centre, Leith at Voodoo Rooms in May 2017. Elvis’s version was originally from King Creole soundtrack, a stand out amongst all the ham acting and cheesy tunes of his post army service output.
 
Whiskey in the Jar (Whiskey for Pooch) – recorded as a tribute to Jock Scott AKA Pooch Leslie after receiving the sad news of his death.

Coz I Luv You – A recent addition to our live set as it was a significant record for all of us in our early teenage years, a glam/ boot boy classic. This version was recorded for our featured session on London’s Boogaloo Radio.

Dirt – A Stooges cover – a one off recording of a significant song for all of us.

Jungle Rock – On a more rockin’ tip our cover of Hank Mizell – a one off recording of his one off hit of 1976, a favourite of youth club discos on Clerie Hill.

Losing My Edge – when it was released in 2002 it reminded us of the auld Boots back in the early 1980’s, unaware at the time that we’d resurrect ourselves to perform and it would be our set encore when we returned to the fray at Neu Reekie on 26th January 2016.

Midnight Moses – during 2017 this was a cornerstone to our live set, originally recorded by Sensational Alex Harvey Band who were another huge influence on us as teenagers – “remember children when freedom comes along don’t pish in the water supply!”.
 
Down With Prince – A Hot Chip song that just nailed our feeling of loss for Prince Rogers Nelson.
 
Repo Man – From the soundtrack of the same name we performed this at The Legendary Voodoo Rooms the day before Iggy Pop’s 70th birthday. This is our jug band version ala 13th Floor Elevators.
 
Golden Hen (disco mix) – a white boy post-punk reggae version of the Tenor Saw dancehall classic – riddim come forward!

Where Were You – An occasional encore number during 2016 since we were all past members of “the Mekon army”, when we used to go down to Leeds back in early 80’s The Mekons would sometimes put us up overnight. Apparently the original version was written as a love song about Beth Peters of Delta 5.

Lace Ups
