Lost Miles

The third in my Nine Muses project, in Greek mythology Calliope was the Muse who presided over eloquence and epic poetry. Her name translates as 'beautiful voice'.

The melody was written when I learned of the passing of an old friend back in 2021 and it sat on my PC as a musical sketch that needed a spark to finish it.

Calliope was that spark and, although it's quite poignant, I felt that it portrayed the feeling I wanted in bringing Calliope's 'beautiful voice' to life.

The composition, arrangement, instruments, recording and production all happened at IronJay Studios between December 2021 and November 2023 and were written, played and twiddled by me.

The next in my Nine Muses Project is Thalia, the goddess who presided over comedy and idyllic poetry. In this context her name means "flourishing", because the praises in her songs flourish through time...apparently!

The composition, arrangement, instruments, recording and production all happened at IronJay Studios in March 2025 and it was written, played and tweaked by me.
