Mr Big Happy is one the great collectors on the scene who is actively seeking under the radar, obscure and lesser known funk and soul music. He pro actively does this whilst gathering insight directly from the artists and shares behind the scenes information related to the release. On the show, Aswad and Mr Big happy talk about why it’s important to him, and what drives his passion for collecting and sharing these relics of great music. Together they recorded nearly 2 hours of conversation — so let’s just say it’s been a long time coming for them to have a good chat. The Best Of Modern Soul (1976-85)

If you’re familiar with the Boogie/Funk scene, you’ve definitely came across the name “Nick Martinelli” in the credits somewhere; whether as a producer (solo or with his acolyte David Todd), as arranger, writer, mixing board or remix duties. He has contributed some of the most notable song within the genre, songs such as Loose Ends “Hangin’ On A String”, Fat Larry’s Band “Act Like You Know”, or 52nd Street “Tell Me How It Feels”, but his catalog’s range is quite exhaustive, diverse and lots of his catalogue is kind of “slept-on”. We’re talking about a superstar producer, who has hits on both the U.S. and U.K. charts, and at the same time has an abundance of underground boogie/disco classic anthems. 

With that in mind, I wanted to pay homage to him, so I decided to do a tribute mix with some of my records that had the name Nick Martinelli on them. (I could easily do 3 more).
