Die Orakel long time collaborator @edward gracefully reappears with a three track emission called Time Stretch. Edward’s appliance of the titular technique is not restricted to various sonic elements at all, as it extends to the tracks’ mental notes and their trajectories beyond the digital realm. 

Time Stretch fills the entire side A with vibrant sonic elements, a warm bassline along an eerie pad, all on top of a straight and punchy bass drum. La Grotta’s signature melody, plus chirps and cowbells, inject a slight touch of exotica to the musical meta-data, while time stretch artefacts refer back to a befittingly themed EP. Finally, the undercurrents of Black Sea evolve along a modulated melodic pad, a pulsating bass and beat structure, and a light 90s IDM morse figure on top of frequency sweeps.

For International Women's Month, we revisit K-HAND's Resident Advisor Exchange, originally published in November 2019. The "First Lady Of Detroit," as Detroit City Council deemed her in 2017, died in August 2021. The following text is from the original post. 

Kelli Hand used to be described as an unsung hero of Detroit house and techno but recently she's finally been getting her due. With a production career beginning in 1990, she has a sprawling discography packed with timeless releases for key labels like Warp, Tresor and her own Acacia Records. Over the years she's produced several hundred tracks, each bearing her distinctive knack for jack and a style marked by a timeless flavour of minimalism. 

In conversation with Matt Unicomb, we hear about how her perspective on releasing music and DJing has changed over the last three decades and her experiences of the ebb and flow of a life spent in dance music. Launching from formative experiences at Paradise Garage and the Music Box, Hand's story covers several vital eras of American dance music history, a lineage that feeds directly into the rare staying power of her productions.

Bolam, an alias of Jack Hardie, has been on people's radar for the past few years. He's gained quite a reputation in a relatively short time with his bass heavy infectious productions on Space Dust and Breaks 'N' Pieces and there's no holding him back now. 2023 looks very bright for Bolam indeed!

He's also a bloody brilliant DJ with a keen ear for the old and the new. Let's dive in and try to get to know Jack a little better.

Mano De Fuego land on Yaxteq with the mighty Fuerza EP. In 2022, los hermanos Cedillo also known as Soul of Hex launched their Mano De Fuego alias from Underground Resistance headquarters in Detroit. Their debut for Yaxteq showcases their versatility as producers. Sagrada is pure musical magic for the dancefloor with rising chord swells, relentless bass and strings that reach into the cosmos. Aztec Obelisk gives a latin flavor to the classic Detroit electro-bass blueprint. Fuerza dives deep into hi-tech jazz including an interstellar saxophone improvisation courtesy of Tijuana's own Manuel Páez Armendáriz. DJ Dex then takes the soul of Fuerza and remixes it with the concrete foundation of jaaackin US house music. All tracks were mixed and arranged at the Yaxteq studio in Los Angeles. Saludos!!
