Hailing from Copenhagen, Rune Reilly Kölsch is the cool and calm house and techno producer making loud noise in the game. Having recently featured on Radio 1's Essential Mix as one of Pete Tong's future stars, it seems Kölsch is taking all the right turns on his route to world domination. 1-2:30 pm set on the Sunday at Blossom Festival 2023. It was the fifth year of Blossom and my third year playing main stage. I was trusted with the job of handing over to an international act, The Sponges. The sun was shining and the vibes were Very good!

In the last 13 years of DJing, I’ve gone through a lot of journeys: funky and accessible, textured and deep, soft and restrained, warm and driving, slow and punchy.

But these last couple years have felt uncertain. I shed my old DJ name “popstack” and wanted to unify my sound into something reliable and recognizable. What sound would that be? 

In recent sets, I’ve leaned towards deep and groovy. Yet sometimes things felt missing. Sometimes you just wanna hear sharp, glossy vocal hooks right alongside skittering, challenging breakbeats; hypnotic drums that make you lose your sense of place, punctuated by ethereal moments.

So in this set — to kick off the new year — let it be (E) all of the above.
