The song portrays a relationship in which the main character knows they’re being lied to but chooses to accept it because those lies provide comfort. Despite friends warning that it won’t last, they stay— not out of hope, but because the other person makes them laugh and gives them moments of happiness. It’s a bittersweet story about self-deception, affection, and the fear of letting go.
