Berlin based DJ Philipp Schultheis likes to eat and is an enthusiastic selector, collector and dancer.
 
Former Frankfurt resident Philipp Schultheis has become a Berlin regular with lightning speed by playing well-chosen house and disco tracks. Prerequisited at Marlon Hoffstadt's phone-free Savour The Moment series, he is already notorious for endless closing sets. Even if he's not into producing (yet), there is much output to get familiar with his sound. 

Ransom Note called him a disc jockey on the rise who has moulded a collection of tracks in a precise and intricate manner with imaginative twists and turns, while his mix for Crack Magazine is blending glittering technicolour cuts into a buoyant excursion primed for the dance. ZeeZout describes his sound as deep space astrofunk and synthesizer induced orgasms courtesy, weaved together into an exuberant mix jam-packed with synths, vocoders, and 808’s. For Bordello A Parigi as well as Sinchi Collective, he contributed two each carefully selected, four-hour Italo Only sets, containing guilty pleasures and hidden treasures as well as contemporary Italo biggies. 

Apropos Guilty Pleasures, he started the eponymous series of events at renowned Paloma Bar in 2019 with the likes of long-term Robert Johnson resident Thomas Hammann, Permanent Vacation label honcho Benjamin Fröhlich and italo-driven uprising star Tjade so far.

You don't get the nickname "King of the Cut" for nothing...

Over the years, Danish DJ and producer Flemming Dalum has built a reputation for being a dab hand at the edit. Italo is his life-long passion: he's been dedicated to the darker, underground shades of the sound since the 1980s.

His impact on the genre is remarkable: he's made nine edit packages for Centre Neptune; created mixes for Mothball Records, Bordello A Parigi and Roller Disco Records; and reworked tracks by Klein & M.B.O, Koto, Steel Mind, Mono Band and so many others.

He's also a longtime affiliate of Red Laser Records, the Italo-indebted Manctalo imprint run by Il Bosco, which he's contributed a ton of edits and remixes to. The Manchester label reached the ripe old age of 10 this year and to commemorate the imprint reaching a milestone anniversary, Flemming has whipped up a special mix of his favourite label cuts to take the listener on a journey. In his own words, "the sound of Red Laser will show you the way."

This particular tiger has been clawing his way through the music scene by releasing some quality Tracks such as "Pleasure Garden" at Sarah Wild's Imprint Midnight Operators. Not to forget the massive Italo Disco Banger "Dolce Fragola" on Fauve Records & @crackirecords which was released last year and played by David Vunk amongst many others...

@maltitzmusic lives in Berlin. He is known for his eclectic style and brings together influences from Italo Disco, Indie Dance, House & Wave in his DJ sets, which is also reflected in his diverse art of music production. Maltitz's energetic DJ sets thrive on the dynamic atmosphere, characterized by diverse genre excursions and rapid tempo changes. 

He surprises with the mixture of humor, sex appeal and the right selection for the night and always looks for the emotional connection to the audience. He is a well-known DJ in the Berlin club scene and plays in venues such as the Funkhaus (porcelain bar), Sisyphos, //about:blank, Golden Gate, Æden, Ipse. As an experienced DJ, he has been a guest at the Wilde Möhre and the Feel Festival. He also gained a reputation outside of Berlin and played in clubs in cities such as Frankfurt, Hamburg, Kassel or Dresden. In the local PAL club in Hamburg he plays alongside with stage luminaries like Boris, FJAAK, Sedef Adasi, Cormac, Héctor Oaks or Spencer Parker, whereby his universally known closing sets can last up to six hours.

1) Introduce yourself?

Hi. I'm Philipp Schultheis. I like to eat and sometimes I play my favourite records in public!

2) What have been your highlights from the last 12 months?

Besides deejaying eight or nine times at Wilde Renate in 2019, it was definitely one for the books to play at Gewölbe, Cologne – where I had one of my very first club experiences some years ago. And my first international gig at Peronas, Vilnius. 2019 was pretty cool!

3) What do you have lined up for the coming year?

No special plans yet – but I'm really hyped for an upcoming party in Frankfurt where I will play alongside Lauer and Benjamin Fröhlich.
