Dark Deep House Wintry Mix '15

Solid Steel in association with Serato (25th December) The competition has closed and the votes have been counted for the Solid Steel Mix of the Year 2015 and we clearly ended the year on a high, as the two most popular mixes both came from December. We pride ourselves at Solid Steel on showcasing some of the most diverse mixes out there and it was great to see voting across the genres, with Four Tet, Prayer, Rita Maia, Benjamin Damage, Bakradze, Jungle, Perc, Essential Mix from Coldcut & DK, Funkstorung, Caribou, DJ Madd influence mix, Session Victim, BreakBeat Lou, Tensnake, 90's hip hop mix from Prefuse 73, Armtone, Medlar and The Rammellzee & Aphex Twin mixes by DJ Food all scoring highly.

But there were two clear frontrunners that took most of the votes and it was the Modeselektor mix from the beginning of December that you decided was Mix of the Year 2015, with Jon 1st as a close runner up.

With the closure of the iconic Berlin record label 50 Weapons, we decided to hand over Solid Steel for a special double bill featuring label founders, Modeselektor and the artist that released the final album, Benjamin Damage. Modeselektor were up first with music from the label by Truncate, Untold, Atoms for Peace and Bambounou, plus tracks from Gabi, Ben Zimmerman and Benge. The German duo told us;
"50WEAPONS has been sort of a house that we built. A house for artists and their creative output. Now it's time to leave that house, but the house will always stay open. Open for anyone who needs inspiration or motivation. We are proud of each and every artist who developed their style using 50WEAPONS as an outlet, just the same way as we are proud of every release that has graced our and your turntables. This mix is one of many pillars of the legacy of 50WEAPONS that will hopefully live on forever. Hardcore will never die!"

ALKHEMY’s The Black Hole turns three years-old, and to celebrate, the Brooklyn-based collective has called upon some of the mightiest in the galaxy to create this dance floor-ready compilation. The 27 artists featured on this VA were invited to participate by combining their signature production styles with a Black Hole-inspired twist, to showcase a range of the world’s raviest sounds. Over a third of the participating artists have headlined The Black Hole for their US debut or NY debut, including, Scan 7, Plural (Kukri), Keepsakes, D. Carbone, 138, Axel Picodot and WarinD. Each providing a nostalgic glimpse into their respective journeys through Brooklyn’s favorite galactic rave. The remaining artists have brought forth their own unique sounds, creating an undeniably powerful collection of tracks that will leave a lasting mark on 2019.

The compilation is just as diverse as the dance floors at The Black Hole and as well as the lineups assembled by ALKHEMY. Proudly bringing artists from the US, South America and Europe together. Another example of the power that lays behind unity.

The cover art, which was inspired by the iconic flyers of The Black Hole, who are always put together by Danny Garber, was designed by Detroit legend, Alan Oldham aka DJ T-1000. Being that ALKHEMY’s mission is to highlight diversity in techno, Alan carried on the tradition of The Black Hole’s flyers where people of color and women are showcased in a powerful manner. Keeping the mastering mainly in-house, 80% of the tracks were mastered by ALKHEMY’s Buzzi.

Straight from the confines of her chosen Berlin home, @ladystarlightnyc impresses with an update of her singular, machine-driven techno. Ranging from banging to introspective, this record shows the artist at her most versatile yet, pairing her signature bone-dry analog output with emotive atmospherics and playful vibrancy.
Starting out deep, A1 contrasts uptempo acid licks with grand layers of strings, followed by the slowly building, equally vibey A2. Panoramic washes create an ambiance of space, the elastic kick steadily holding down the floor until a late swash of percussion seals the deal.
The flip carries one of Starlight’s most abrasive moments, featuring rave-style sirens right out the gate, treated to some crazy live filtering with epic acidic effects. Mysterious grooves on the last track, its offbeat synth swaying an electric tension, restrained yet powerful.

30 Years ago, the Studio Project INTERACTIVE was born. Jens Lissat had met Ramon Zenker before this band-project already. Jens was a resident DJ in a club in Krefeld, the legendary Königsburg. He left the club to work for another club, but after a few months he returned and offered the owner to release a track, just for the Königsburg. Jens and Ramon produced The Techno Wave and the name for this band-project was the beginning of history. INTERACTIVE became famous in the Techno Circuit.

We celebrate the 30 Years jubilee with a Remix Package. Drumcomplex @drumcomplex is the man of the moment in the Techno League and you can hear why, in his interpretation. Jens Lissat @lissat teamed up for a Remix with his studio partner Christoph Pauly and their remix is makin' you going nuts. The third remix is coming from the italian techno star producer SISKO ELECTROFANATIK @siskoelectrofanatik , with a powerful arp-sequenced version.

Ignacio M. is a young Techno DJ & Producer also from Argentina. He grew up in a family of musicians in different musical genres, which introduced him to the World of music. Ignacio began to present himself as a DJ in 2017, influenced by House and Techno. In 2018 he began his career as a music producer, focused on Techno and Hard Techno Styles, achieving great respect among labels worldwide.

Lautaro Xavier is from Argentina and started producing in 2014, influenced by Minimal and Techno. He already performed in major venues and released his tracks in labels from all over the World.

Way Out EP is a collaboration of this two artists, where you can expect some great melodies, combined with cosmic and powerful atmospheres.
