Border Soundscapes is a project born out of the desire to explore Sound Studies from a rhetorical perspective and its intersection with philosophical concepts stemming from aesthetics, logic, and the ethics of sound. Our expansive laboratory is situated on the border between Mexico and the United States, specifically in the sister cities of Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, and El Paso, Texas.

As an initiative focused on cultural heritage through sound, this project aims to serve as a platform for preserving the sounds that define the Paso del Norte region. We firmly believe that our contribution will benefit future generations by enriching their understanding of their own history. For many years, learning has predominantly revolved around visual and written mediums, neglecting the potential of our senses to enhance our literacy experience. It is for this reason that Border Soundscapes emerges, positioning itself as a platform that seeks continuous enrichment through the sounds of the region and reflection upon each acoustic ecology.
