The start of a new year inevitably brings many resolutions for change that are short lived. Well, we’re not about that at Born On Road. We’re going to start this year the same way we ended 2023 – with a fresh bassline to ignite the January dance. Our first release of the year comes courtesy of from Phibes – a duo we’ve been closely intertwined with over the years. “Man Come Back” is their new single, and it’s a bit of a whopper. The last time Phibes released on Born On Road was their “Just For Tonight” single back in 2022, so to see the boys back on the label with new music is pretty special. Happy New Year!

It’s always a beautiful day when Crossy drops off some new music at Born On Road HQ. The last time he did so was back in 2021 when he curated our Future Blends V/A album, providing us with the classic “Born On Road” anthem featuring the late Skibadee. While he may not have released often in the past, this year we’re going to see some exciting, consistent manoeuvres from Crossy – starting with the release of a new single. Featuring the vocals of Jman, and aptly titled “Detonation”, this single is destined to cause damage in the rave. Crossy loves a silly tune, pass it on.

We always love bringing through releases from new artists on the label – and there’s been quite a few of them over recent months – but there’s something particularly special about one of our long-standing family members bringing through their biggest body of work to date. That’s exactly what Gray has done.

Representing Gray not just as an artist who travels on road for a living with a USB in his hand, but also as a person whose journey has revolved around using music as a form of escapism from since day one, Digital Nomad is the truest presentation of Gray as an artist yet.

Taking the form of a mixtape, expect new singles including “Squat Rave (Locked Off)” with Donae’o and “Run & Hide” ft. Doctor, Spyda & Inja, familiar singles, and fun skits providing a window into Gray’s journey through the rave scene. This one’s a real family affair.

Born on Road is a Bristol-based record label and DJ collective firmly rooted at the heart of drum and bass and jungle’s underground music scene. Since being established in 2013, we’ve built a reputation as an eclectic outfit known for pushing good music. It doesn’t matter if it’s jungle, jump up, ragga or some sublime vocal work, if we vibe with it then we’ll champion it to the masses.

This is an attitude born from our history in the underground music scene, where the free-flowing energy of sound system culture formed the foundations of the label’s all-inclusive ethos. It’s the reason why we’ve quickly grown into a sprawling music family who all support one another’s careers. From stage takeovers at festivals including Boomtown and Glastonbury, to signing the most exciting homegrown talents, Born on Road are always looking for ways to drive forward the underground scene, along with the artists inside it.

We may be a new wave music label, but we adopt the old school approach of putting the music first before anything else. This journey has been an eventful one so far, but there’s still plenty more to come on the road ahead.
