It’s always a beautiful day when Crossy drops off some new music at Born On Road HQ. The last time he did so was back in 2021 when he curated our Future Blends V/A album, providing us with the classic “Born On Road” anthem featuring the late Skibadee. While he may not have released often in the past, this year we’re going to see some exciting, consistent manoeuvres from Crossy – starting with the release of a new single. Featuring the vocals of Jman, and aptly titled “Detonation”, this single is destined to cause damage in the rave. Crossy loves a silly tune, pass it on.

We always love bringing through releases from new artists on the label – and there’s been quite a few of them over recent months – but there’s something particularly special about one of our long-standing family members bringing through their biggest body of work to date. That’s exactly what Gray has done.

Introducing Digital Nomad – a release we are unbelievably gassed to share. Representing Gray not just as an artist who travels on road for a living with a USB in his hand, but also as a person whose journey has revolved around using music as a form of escapism from since day one, Digital Nomad is the truest presentation of Gray as an artist yet.

Taking the form of a mixtape, expect new singles including “Squat Rave (Locked Off)” with Donae’o and “Run & Hide” ft. Doctor, Spyda & Inja, familiar singles, and fun skits providing a window into Gray’s journey through the rave scene. This one’s a real family affair.

Summer is the season for shellers, and we’ve just received a nuclear weapon from our very own Carashelly. You may have heard this dub setting off levels in our sets recently. Linking up with Crossy, “Transmitter” is a guaranteed rave stomper with Carasel’s wicked lyrics and Crossy’s immaculate production. But what more did you expect? Getting these two members of the Born On Road family together on a release was always going to be mega – and it’s made even more special by it being Carasel’s first on the label (who would have thought!) We may have more exciting Carasel announcements around the corner, stay tuned…

We have a very special release to present on Born On Road, and this one’s well and truly from one of our own. He’s the voice of our shows, and one of the biggest dons in the Bristol scene, and now Carasel is embarking on a major milestone with Born On Road. Introducing his debut EP on the label, Year Of The Dragon. 



We’ve already given you one single from the EP in Carasel’s hefty link up with Crossy on “Transmitter”, and the full EP features even more friends including Inja, Night Shift, Spyda, T>I and Selecta J-Man. Filled with the intelligent Carasel lyricism we love, and guaranteed shellers for the dance, this is a massive moment for one of our beloved family members. Considering he’s been the front man for Born On Road on so many of our travels, it was about time we showcased just how talented Carasel is as an artist. Year of the dragon, year of the Carashelly.

Born on Road is a Bristol-based record label and DJ collective firmly rooted at the heart of drum and bass and jungle’s underground music scene. Since being established in 2013, we’ve built a reputation as an eclectic outfit known for pushing good music. It doesn’t matter if it’s jungle, jump up, ragga or some sublime vocal work, if we vibe with it then we’ll champion it to the masses.

This is an attitude born from our history in the underground music scene, where the free-flowing energy of sound system culture formed the foundations of the label’s all-inclusive ethos. It’s the reason why we’ve quickly grown into a sprawling music family who all support one another’s careers. From stage takeovers at festivals including Boomtown and Glastonbury, to signing the most exciting homegrown talents, Born on Road are always looking for ways to drive forward the underground scene, along with the artists inside it.

We may be a new wave music label, but we adopt the old school approach of putting the music first before anything else. This journey has been an eventful one so far, but there’s still plenty more to come on the road ahead.
