Programme Notes:
Array of Corals is a piece that is based on one of the paintings from Dr. Zaimie Sahibil's
coral collection. In the field of machine learning, one of the most crucial jobs for programmers is to input as much data as possible to the AI. So that it can study whatever we want it to. For example, if we feed the AI. enough fugues (in this case, by midi values), theoretically, it should be able to compose a fugue. When it comes to pictures, the machine does not have the ability to process the data purely by analyzing the pictures, it needs numbers, just like fugues, we feed it the midi values, not the actual sound itself. "NumPy array" is in a way similar to midi data, it is an array of numbers that tell the machine what color is used in what pixels. I have converted the painting of Dr. Sahibil to a NumPy array and used the gathered numbers as data/materials for the piece (pitch-class set, repetition, rhythmic information, etc.).
