Der Titel erklärt sich aus dem Verlauf des Stückes, ist es doch wie ein Rhombus angelegt, auch wenn sich die genauen geometrischen Definitionen der künstlerischen Freiheit beugen mussten. Als Keimzelle wählte ich einen Klang im mezzopiano, welcher für alle Instrumente am beinahe identischen Ort beginnt und sich dann tonal langsam auseinanderbewegt. In der Mitte ist diese Spreizung vollführt, wir halten uns in einem weiten Range auf mit viel Bewegung und dynamischen Varianten. Gegen Ende wird der Range der Stimmen wieder kleiner und sie finden sich schliesslich wieder auf demselben Ton, auf welchem das ganze Stück seinen Ursprung fand. Als Zitatelieferanten standen diesmal Strawinsky und Slayer Pate.

th’shallow earth grows, 
th’shallower it grows: 
Nothing to behold until 
th’horizon line.

At First Landing, when Deliria crashed into the planet that was to become Delirium, an immense impact crater was created. Molten rock flowed up and out from the impact site, cooling to form the mountain walls of Deliria’s Cradle.  

On the opposite pole of Delirium, Deliria’s impact caused the planet to bulge outwards, creating a series of jagged elevations forced upward from the barren rock. Over time, as Deliria’s lifecycle began to terraform Delirium, the oceans filled, and these elevations gradually became a series of atolls, islands and lagoons. Deliria’s deepest mycelia grew through the planet’s crust and began to fruit from these scattered archipelagos. Once they broke ground, Deliria’s roots then calcified - crystallizing into towering, translucent sporophores, rising silent atop these distant islands. 

Their function is to call up the myst from the surrounding seas. This myst then gathers above the 
shoreline, swirling into greatwinged magïma that call out and soar inland only then to release their rain across the land. 

¤ ¤ ¤ 

We find ourselves on one such island. Here, nestled in a secluded cove, two of Deliria’s crystalline sporophores tower above our beach. To our backs, beyond the sloping white sands, rises the dark canopy of the island’s dense jungle; seeded by Deliria’s terraforming over eons past. 

This inlet is shallow; thick, chalky reefs peer at us from beneath the lapping waters. Rockpools kept warm in the twilightdawn of Delirium’s star harbour life in all its strangest forms. Magïma plash and play just out beyond the surf. Between these two towers - a carved basin. 
Polished by the waves’ ceaseless motion, we are drawn to its pearlescent strangeness. Approaching it, the bowl begins to swirl; sloshing water filling and evaporating in the presence of the sporophores. The myst reaches for us - 

In a moment, our cove is gone. Around us, nothing but an open, rocky plateau of primeval Delirium. Before us, the ground rolls down to perfect blackness: beyond the reach of our star’s soft tendrils. Sublimated rockdust and fungal spores mingle thick in the air about us, as an endless rain slicks the rock beneath our feet glossy and reflective. From our vantage other such peaks break above the gloom below. Upon them, glistering proto-sporocarps ignite and smoulder to coals. 

A sound –  

Turning, the jungle sighs a creaking reluctance. The foliage parts and from its shaded boughs comes The Fool, riding upon an emu. The air clots thick about this apparition as the striding bird calls out toward the cove.  

All at once, a mystmusic of rockbells and boneflutes rises up from all of this place. Magïma leap from the shallows and join the motley spectre in joyous procession. Raising a glass sceptre of borages, The Fool leads all away and down the sandy beach, receding slowly from sight.

Louis Aguirre (f. 1968) Cubansk komponist bosiddende i Danmark. Aguirre er uddannet som komponist i Cuba, Amsterdam, men fortsatte studierne efter han flyttede til Danmark i 2004, og afsluttede solistklassen i komposition ved Det jyske Musikkonservatorium i 2007. Aguirre er en stærk og original stemme i dansk musikliv. Hans værkliste, med mere end 200 værker, inkluderer: opera, orkester- og kammermusik, soloværker, vokalmusik, koral-, elektronisk- og didaktisk musik. Han er en aktiv del af musiklivet i Danmark og Nordjylland, bl.a. ved sit arbejde som medlem af komponistgruppen Snow Mask og som kunstnerisk leder af Snow Mask Ensemblet. En række af hans værker er inspirerede af den cubanske Santeria religion og de religiøse tekster fra området.
